Male Arrested for Stealing Beer from Bruce Street Beer Store:

Jason Guy, age 23 of 772 Wellington Street East (upstairs) was arrested on the 26th of August at 6:35 pm on Bruce Street and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 26th of August at approximately 6:30 pm the accused attended at the Beer Store on Bruce Street and stole a twelve pack of beer. The accused went to put the beer in his truck in the parking lot and when confronted by two male persons in the parking lot, he grabbed a shovel from the truck and started swinging it at them. When police attended, the accused, who was in an intoxicated condition, was arrested.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrants:

55 year-old Craig Herriman of #304-138 East Street was arrested on the 26th of August at 11:10 am on Gore Street on outstanding warrants and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, two counts of breach of a release document and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused was observed by city police walking on Gore Street and when they ran a check on him they discovered he was wanted on the outstanding warrants and he was arrested.

Two Males Arrested For Going Through Vehicles Overnight:

Two males, one adult, and one youth were arrested at 1:28 am this morning as a result of officers receiving a complaint of two males going through vehicles in the Calbert and Simon Street Area around 1:05 am. A description was provided by witnesses and when officers arrived in the area, they located the two males, one walking and one on a bike, on Boundary Road. Officers found various stolen items from vehicles that they had just entered. The property, consisting of money, an Ipod and charger, two pair of sunglasses and two rings were all seized.

As a result, a 13 year-old male was arrested and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000.00 and two counts of breach of probation. He is to appear in bail court.

The second male, 18 year-old Julian Morin of 48 Lorna Drive was arrested with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of theft under $5,000.00. He is to appear in court on the 29th of
September.

Three Domestic Related Arrests:

1) A 45 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of August at 8:32 pm at his residence and charged with two counts of assault and one count of resist Peace Officer. It is alleged that on the 26th of August around 2:30 am the accused assaulted his common law spouse by punching her in the face. The accused left the residence and returned later in the evening around 8:15 pm in an intoxicated and agitated state and threw Brita water container at the same victim. The victim received non-life threatening injuries. When police attended and were attempting to arrest the accused, he failed to comply with them and attempted to kick and strike the officers. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

2) A 39 year-old male was arrested on the 27th of August at 1:14 am at the city police station and charged with two count of breach of a release order. It sis alleged that he attended at his ex-common law partner’s residence at approximately 9:50 pm on the 26th of August when he was on recognizance bail release conditions not to communicate, harass or interfere with her or her daughter, who was also home at the time. He is to appear in court on the 27th of August.

3) A 28 year-old male was arrested on the 26th of August at 7:47 am at the city police station and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his wife on the 25th of August around 5 pm at their residence by grabbing her around the arm and attempted to force her out of their residence.

Two Males Arrested For Shoplifting:

1) 44 year-old Wesley Alton of #214-100 James Street was arrested on the 26th of August at 12:15 pm in the area of Spring Street near Queen Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that around 12 pm the accused attended at the Station Mall and stole a leather jacket from the TipTop Tailors Store and fled. Mall Security called police and chased the male out of the mall for a short distance, losing him in the Spring Street area. When police arrived in the area, they located the suspect arrested him without incident. He is to appear in court on the 29th of September.

2) 35 year-old Derek Miller of #3-489 Cathcart Street was arrested on the 26th of August at 1:42 pm at the city police station after turning himself in and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for a theft incident from the 19th of August when he attended around 5:50 pm at the Station Mall LCBO Store and stole a bottle of Vodka. The accused was captured on store video surveillance. He is to appear in court on the 29th of September.

Property Crimes:

Thefts:

• Vehicles were entered in the Korah Road, St. Mary’s River Drive, White Oak Drive, the parking lot of the Comfort Inn on Great Northern Road. Items stolen included a cell phone a pair of work boots, a chain saw, two tuxedos, a GPS a window was smashed out and a laptop and packsack were stolen.
• A plate was stolen from a motor cycle sometime overnight 0n the 25th/26th of August.
• A male was caught siphoning gas from a company vehicle in the lot by an employee at Service Master on Black Road. The male fled in a grey Mitsubishi Eclipse vehicle with Saskatchewan plates.

There was one break and enter reported to a Algoma Central Railway Tour Train Car Bay Street area sometime overnight on the 25th-26th of August. Some cash, a cordless drill and some loaves of bread were reported stolen.
