Male Arrested for Breaching Probation Orders

18 year-old Damion L’Heureux of 75 James Street (rear) was arrested at his residence just before 9 am yesterday morning by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and charged with one count of breach of a prohibition order in relation to children and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 9th of August the accused was babysitting two children at a local residence and at the time he was on an order of prohibition in relation to children with conditions that prohibit him from being in a position of trust or authority towards persons under the age of 14 years. He was also on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Domestic Related Arrest

A 19 year-old male was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 3 am this morning and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 11th of August the accused assaulted his girlfriend at his residence. He is to appear in court on the 2nd of September.

Theft Reports

• A vehicle was entered in the parking lot of a business in the 500 block of Trunk Road. Cash and CD’S were reported stolen.
• A Hewlitt Packard Compact Presario Notebook was reported stolen from the 100 block of Wellington Street West.
• A trampoline was reported stolen from a property on Willow Street.
• Two bikes were reported stolen. One from the 300 block of Cathcart Street and a BMX Black Mongoose with candy orange handlebars from the 2000 block of Great Northern Road.

Male Charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 5 pm officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Robert Berto of 2141 Queen Street East and charged him with one count of assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged that on this date at approximately 4 pm the accused had a verbal dispute with a contractor installing rain gutters to a building that the accused owns on London Street. The argument escalated and the accused pulled a step ladder that the 52 year-old male victim was standing on causing him to fall approximately 18 feet to the ground. As a result, the victim had to be transported to hospital to receive medical attention for non-life threatening injuries. The accused is to appear in court on the 13th of September.

Male Arrested for Assaulting Police Officer

42 year-old Steven Aiello of 483 Nelson Street was arrested at 9:35 pm last evening on Queen Street and charged with one count of assault peace officer. It is alleged that he the accused was escorted out of the Essar Center last evening by Security and continued to cause a disturbance. Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service assisted and when attempting to speak to the accused, he punched one of the officers. The accused is to appear in court on the 13th of September.
