The Sault Ste Marie Police Service will be assisting the CN Police during Railway Safety Week,
April 24th – 28th. CN Police Constable Lisa Burt-Jones, will conducting Railway Safety demonstrations at the Railway crossings at Peoples Rd. and Fourth Line W. in the area of Greenwood Public School today between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.

Police Request Public Assistance In Motor Vehicle Accident Investigation

The Sault Ste Marie Police Traffic Services is seeking the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday afternoon at approx. 4:05 PM. The incident, which took place at the intersection of Willow Ave and Willoughby St., involved a yellow Laidlaw School Bus and a red GMC van. Any person that may have any information about this incident is asked to contact Sgt Jim Egan of Traffic Services @ 949-6300 ext 348.

Assault

Yesterday afternoon, at approx. 3:00 PM City Police arrested a 23 year old male in regards to an Assault and 3 counts of Breach of Probation. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law girlfriend by grabbing her by the throat and pushing her. At the time of the assault the accused was on conditions to not attend at the victims address and to keep the peace. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM

Impaired Driving

At approx. 10:05 PM last night City Police were called to investigate a single motor vehicle collision, at Boundary Rd near Trunk Rd. Upon arrival officers discovered that a vehicle driven by Kimberly King, had struck a PUC pole. Further investigation by the officers led to charges being laid against Ms King. The accused Kimberly King, age 37, of 16 Lewis Rd. is charged with Impaired Driving and Driver Over 80 mgs. She will be appearing in court on Monday May 29th at 9:00 AM.

Break & Enters

City Police are investigating three break and enters that were reported in the past 24 hours.

At approx. 1:10 PM yesterday afternoon police were called to a residence in the 200 block of Albert St.W. regarding a male person breaking into the home via a rear window. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as: a tall male, thin build, with long hair. He was wearing a dark ball cap, jeans and a dark jacket.

At approx. 2:30 AM this morning City Police were called to a residence in the 200 block of Huron St. in regards to a male in the residence. The owners of the home woke up to find a man in their home. Suspect fled scene and ran towards Wellington St.W. Suspect is described as male, approx. 18 years of age, 5’8” tall, wearing a grey sweatshirt.

The third break in occurred at an apartment in the 100 block of Lewis Rd. It is unknown what was taken at this time.

Reports Of Mischief

City Police are investigating four reports of Mischief from yesterday. Vehicles were damaged in the 300 block of MacDonald Ave, and on Hynes St.

Two males were seen breaking a window at the Algoma Art Gallery yesterday evening, at approx
9:40 PM. The suspects were described as males; one was wearing all dark clothing the other was wearing light clothing. One of the males was riding a bicycle and they were last seen heading towards the waterfront.

The fourth mischief report took place in the 600 block of Pine St. where a male was seem damaging car tires. The suspect is described as: male, 5’8- 10” tall, shaved head, thin build, wearing a yellow and green bush type jacket.
