DRIVER CHARGED FROM MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION FATALITY ON FEBRUARY 8TH. Officers from the Traffic Services have completed their investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision on February 8th that claimed the life of 50-year old Hugh Hawdon.
DRIVER CHARGED FROM MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION FATALITY ON FEBRUARY 8TH.

Officers from the Traffic Services have completed their investigation into the fatal motor vehicle collision on February 8th that claimed the life of 50-year old Hugh Hawdon. On that date officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service attended on Trunk Road near the eastern city limits for a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a City Transit bus.

As a result of the investigation 46-year old Terry Louis Madonna of Sault Ste. Marie has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of turn not in safety.

Assault on Family Member & Police

Early last evening at around 8:30 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 51-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused assault a family member and then assaulted a police officer and resisted arrest. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of assault police and resisting arrest. He will be appearing in court on June 4th. The victim and police officer did not require medical attention as a result of the assaults. The incident occurred in the city’s west end.

Charged Regarding Previous Threatening

Yesterday afternoon a 45-year-old male turned himself in to the Sault Ste Marie Police Service regarding a warrant. It is alleged that the accused uttered a threat to cause death or serious bodily harm to a person known to him. The accused Kevin Smith, age 45, of 278 Borden Ave will be appearing in court on May 28th on a charge of uttering a threat.

Break & Enter

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to investigate one break and enter yesterday. A residence in the 800 block of Second Line W. was entered and a small amount of cash and a gold ring were stolen.


The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received five reports of mischief yesterday.

Vehicles parked in the 200 block of Northern Ave. E., the 600 block of Queen St.E., the 100 block of Carufel Ave. and the 100 block of Glasgow Ave were damaged. A shed also in the 100 block of Glasgow Ave was spray painted.

Theft From Vehicles

City police received one report of a theft from a vehicle yesterday. A van parked in the 100 block of Chicora Cres. Was entered and a purse containing money and credit cards was stolen.
