CHARGED WITH WRITING NSF CHEQUES On the 31st of January 2003, Gisella Gardi, age 52 of 20 Plummer Court was at a clothing store in the Station Mall. Mrs. Gardi allegedly purchased clothing in the amount of $865.
CHARGED WITH WRITING NSF CHEQUES
On the 31st of January 2003, Gisella Gardi, age 52 of 20 Plummer Court was at a clothing store in the Station Mall.

Mrs. Gardi allegedly purchased clothing in the amount of $865.38 and presented a personal cheque on her bank account to pay for the purchase. Her bank returned the cheque as non-sufficient funds.

On the 6th of January 2003, Gisella Gardi allegedly went to another clothing store on Queen St. East. She allegedly purchased clothing in the amount of $180.00 and presented a personal cheque pay for her purchases. Again, her bank returned the cheque.

Detectives from the Fraud Unit of the Investigation Services Section charged Gardi yesterday at 2:25 pm with two counts of Fraud and two counts of False Pretenses. She will appear in court on May 26th.


CHARGED WITH USING STOLEN CREDIT CARD
On the 27th of March, 2003, Bobbi-Jean Wilson, age 24 of 814 Wellington Street East allegedly had in her possession a stolen credit card from the Canadian Forestry Service that she had no authorization to possess or use.

Furthermore on the 27th of March, the accused Wilson was at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar and allegedly bought $116.52 worth of cigarettes with this stolen credit card. Wilson also on this same date allegedly attempted to use this stolen credit card three more times - once at the Canadian Tire Gas Bar and two times at the Bruce Street Esso.

She was refused these purchases. Yesterday at 3:10 pm, detectives arrested and charged Wilson with Fraud, Possession of a Stolen Credit Card, False Pretenses, three counts of Attempted Fraud and three counts of Attempted False Pretenses. She will appear in court on June 2nd.


MAN CHARGED WITH NUMEROUS SEXUAL OFFENSES
On April 16, 2003, police officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were advised that an adult male had sexually assaulted two young females.

Police commenced an investigation into the matter and it revealed that during March, 2002, the accused, a 39-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie sexually assaulted and sexually interfered with a young female victim by having sexual intercourse with her. At the time of the incident the accused was 38-years-old and the victim was 12 years.

Also, from March 2003 to mid April 2003, the accused sexually assaulted and sexually interfered with same victim by having sexual intercourse with her. At the time of the incident the accused was 39-years-old and the victim was 13 years.

And from March 2002 to mid April 2003 the accused sexually assaulted and sexually interfered with the victim by having sexual intercourse with her at least 3 times. At the time of the incidents the accused was 38 and 39 years and the victim was 12 and 13 years.

On or between the 14th and 16th of April 2003 the accused also sexually assaulted another female victim, who was 15 years old by touching her vagina with his hand over her clothing. Both victims were known to the accused.

All the assaults occurred within the City of Sault Ste. Marie. On the 22nd of April 2003 at 2:15 pm Detectives from the Investigation Services Section of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested and charged the accused with four counts of Sexual Assault and three counts of Sexual Interference. He will appear in court on June 2nd.


FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT CHARGE
On April 21st a 22-year-old male from the Searchmont area was at an apartment on Sackville Road and spoke to a 20-year-old female there. While there, a domestic dispute that started with an argument escalated to the point that the male slapping her across the face.

The victim asked him to leave but he refused. The victim stated she was leaving. The accused then threatened that if she did, he would smash her. Out of fear, she stayed at the apartment.

The next morning as she was driving the accused to a friend's residence another domestic argument occurred and he slapped her in the face again. The victim then pulled the car over and told him to get out, he refused and then he head-butted her.

The victim then continued to drive the accused to his friend's where he got out of the vehicle. Police began an investigation into the incident and on April 22nd the accused turned himself into police at 9:50 pm.

He was arrested and charged with Assault, Threatening Death or Bodily Harm, Assault Causing Bodily Harm and Forcible Confinement. He will appear in bail court today.


ACCIDENT SENDS TWO TO HOSPITAL
At 1:30 pm yesterday patrol officers were called to the intersection of Second Line West and Farewell Terrace for a two-vehicle collision. The investigation revealed that Salerno Corrado, age 69 of 432 Sussex Road was driving his 1999 Dodge van and was stopped in the centre west bound lane of the Second Line West in the intersection waiting to turn left or south on Farwell Terrace.

Across the intersection from the Corrado van was another car waiting to turn left or north onto Farwell Terrace. The Corrado vehicle began its left turn and struck an eastbound 1992 Nissan car that was being driven by Nello Barsanti, age 54 of 1 Broadview Drive.

The Barsanti car had been eastbound on Second Line East in the centre lane and as it approached the Farwell Terrace intersection, it moved into the curb lane to go around the vehicle turning left onto Farwell Terrace.

Salerno Carrado and a passenger in the van, Rosaria Carrado, age 57 from Sussex Avenue were transported to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. Both vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene. The investigation into the collision is continuing.

BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break-ins yesterday. Patrol officers were called to a Hughes Street residence where thieves broke into a shed.

At 12:20 am an apartment-dweller from the 0 to 100 block of Albert Street West complained to police that thieves has entered his residence.
