Update On East End Stabbing Previous Media Release: City Police are continuing their investigation into a stabbing that occurred around 4:30 am this morning. City Police attended in the area of Boston Avenue and Breton Road regarding this incident.

City Police are continuing their investigation into a stabbing that occurred around 4:30 am this morning. City Police attended in the area of Boston Avenue and Breton Road regarding this incident. A 23-year old female remains in the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A 19-year old male and a 17-year old youth were taken into custody this morning and are in the process of being remanded to appear in bail court tomorrow morning. The offenders and victim are known to each other. Officers from Investigation Services are continuing their investigation and are interviewing a number of persons. 19-year-old Shane Wabanosse of 43 Crawford Avenue and a 17-year-old youth have been charged in relation to the stabbing that took place on the 18th of April. The 17-year-old youth has been charged with 1 count of Aggravated Assault, 1 count of Fail to Appear for Court and 1 count for Fail to Appear for Prints. The youth has also been charged in relation to an incident, which occurred on the 30th of December 2005. These charges include 1 count of Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence, 1 count of Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000 and 1 count of Resist Police Officer. The youth will appear in bail court this morning.Shane Wabanosse has been charged with 1 count of Aggravated Assault and 1 count of Breach of Probation Order.

Shane Wabanosse has also been charged in relation to a Search warrant, which was executed at 43 Crawford Avenue at 1:30 pm on the 18th of April. Members of the Investigations Branch of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service found during the course of their investigation 3 codeine tablets, 90 Benzodiazerne tablets, numerous syringes and various drug paraphernalia. Three People were charged in connection with the search warrant.

1) 24-year-old Darlynn Blackbird (female) of 205 Wellington Street East has been charged with 1 count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and 2 counts of Possession of a controlled Substance. She will appear in Bail Court today.

2) 46-year-old Colleen Trudeau of 43 Crawford Avenue has been charged with 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug, and 2 counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. She will also be appearing in court today.

3) 19-year-old Shane Wabanosse of 43 Crawford Avenue has been charged with 1 count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, 2 counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug and 3 counts of Breach of Probation Order.

Assault Charge

A 33year-old male has been charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend. It is alleged that on the 18th of April the accused attended at his ex-girlfriends east end residence where he grabbed and threw her across the bedroom. The accused then left the residence. Police were called and after taking a report they attended at his down town residence and arrested him. He has been charged with 1 count of Assault and is to appear in court on the 29 of May 2006.

Another Knife Incident

On the 18th of April City Police received a complaint of a male chasing another male down Woodward Avenue while wielding a knife. When police arrived in the area they found two males on Kohler Avenue matching the description from the call. It is believed that 21-year-old Derek Lethbridge of 140 Woodward Avenue chased a male known to him. The accused was arrested and searched by police and was found in possession of a knife. The accused has been charged with 1 count of Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, 1 count of Assault with a Weapon, and 1 count of Breach of Release Document. The victim in this incident did not suffer any injuries. The accused is to appear in court today.
