Robbery & Breach 44 year-old Melvin Pine of no fixed address was arrested on the 15th of April at 10:25 am at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged with one count of robbery and one count of breach of probation.

44 year-old Melvin Pine of no fixed address was arrested on the 15th of April at 10:25 am at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and charged with one count of robbery and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 23rd of February the accused and co-accused Annie Sutherland, age 29, of #212-27 Terry Fox Place (arrested 7th of April, also charged with one count of robbery), attended at the residence of a male person, known to them, and while there they tied up the victim, assaulted and threatened him until he revealed his ATM PIN number. The two accused are then alleged to have withdrawn a quantity of cash from the victim’s account. The 56 year-old victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the assault.
The accused Melvin Pine is to appear in bail court this morning.

Assault of Police Officer

39 year-old Doreen McDonald of 184 East Balfour Street was arrested on the 15th of April at 8:15 am at a downtown residence and charged with two counts of assault peace officer and one count of fail to leave premises when directed under the Tresspass to Property Act. It is alleged that on the 15th of April at approximately 8:10 pm city police were dispatched to remove an intoxicated female from a residence and when they arrived and instructed her to leave, she refused. It is further alleged that the accused kicked the police officers and attempted to punch them when she was being arrested. She is to appear in court on the 26th of May.

Breach & Theft Under $5,000

22 year-old Graham Tarrant of #7-193 James Street was arrested on the 15th of April at 11:20 am on Queen Street East on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 5th of April the accused and a female co-accused, attended at the Boathouse Store in the Station Mall and stole clothing valued at approximately $175.00. Police are still attempting to locate the female co-accused in this incident.
The accused Graham Tarrant is to appear in court on the 26th of May.

Theft Under $5,000

23 year-old Ruby Grisdale of #5-110 Wilding Avenue was arrested on the 15th of April at 7:40 am at the city police station after turning herself in. She was charged with count of theft under $5, 000.00. It is alleged that on the 29th of March the accused attended at the apartment of a female known to her and stole some money. She is to appear in court on the 26th of May.

Three Break & Enters Yesterday

There were three break and enters reported yesterday to cottages and garages in the Channel View and Point Des Chenes Crescent area that occurred sometime between the 13th and 15th of April.

A television was taken from one of the residences and it is not known what else was stolen from the others at this time.

Other Acts of Mischief

Two male youths attempted to kick out the panels of the City Bus Shelter last evening around 6 pm in the area of Wellington Street East and Elizabeth Street. Officers searched the area but could not locate the suspects.

Vehicles were entered overnight in the areas of Queen Street East near Spring Street, Bishop’s Court and Summit Avenue. A red Roots bag, some change, a wallet and vehicle permit were reported stolen.

Two bicycles were reported stolen in the Nichol and Queen Street East areas.
The bikes were described as one green Norco Trick bike and one men’s red and black mountain bike with Canadian stickers on the frame.
