CITY POLICE OFFICERS BEING INVESTIGATED
Yesterday at approximately 6:20 pm, police officers were called to the rear of the Beer Store on Bruce Street to investigate two males there. Officers located them behind the business and upon approach of the Police one of the males sustained a stab wound to the chest area. He was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The province's Special Investigation Unit was notified of the incident and is investigating the matter. Due to the S.I.U. investigation, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service will not be releasing any further details.

MAN HARASSES WOMAN
On or between the March 7 and the April 14, the accused, Jeremy Sampson, age 28 of no fixed address, did breach his recognizance by calling an adult female that he knew and speaking to her, as well as leaving five phone calls on her voice mail.

During this period Sampson called the victim on numerous occasions, thereby committing Criminal Harassment.

On the April 4 at approximately 11:05 am, Sampson again breached his recognizance by going to the victim's apartment and repeatedly knocking at the door and asking for her to let him in. She did not answer the door. These actions were also in breach of his probation by failing to keep the peace and be good.

In addition, Sampson failed to notify Police of his change of address. The address he provided Police was 104-615 Albert Street West, and as of the March 31 police determined it is a vacant apartment.

On April 15th at 10:34 am detectives from the Investigation Services Section located Sampson hiding in an attic of a Campbell Avenue home. He was talked out of the attic and arrested and charged with three counts of Breach Of Recognizance, one count of Criminal Harassment and one count of Breach Of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.


DRUG BUST
Yesterday at 3:35 pm, police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit and the Emergency Services Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant upon a residence located in the 700-block Wellington Street East.

Officers located Jason Ackland, age 27 of 776 Wellington Street East and Jacqueline Holmes, age 32 of the same address there. Officers subsequently found individually packaged amounts of cannabis marijuana and cannabis hashish, being a total of 3.2 grams of cannabis hashish (4 packs) and 1.6 grams of cannabis marijuana (2 packs).

Police also located a cannabis resin joint. Police also located a small debt list, $430.00 in cash located in Ackland's sock, cannabis marijuana seeds and a digital weigh scale.

At 4:52 pm Drug Unit Officers arrested and charged Ackland with Possession of Break Instruments, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Controlled Drug and Breach of Probation.

At the time of this offence, Ackland was on a probation order with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior, which he violated. He will appear in bail court today.

At 5:25 pm Drug Unit Officers arrested and charged Holmes with Possession of Break Instruments, two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Drug. She will appear in court May 26th.


ANOTHER DRUG BUST
Yesterday, shortly after 7:00 pm, police officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit and the Emergency Services Unit executed another Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant upon a residence located on Arden Street.

The officer's search revealed a baby jar with 42.8 grams of cannabis resin hidden within a wall in the basement. Officers also located a propane torch and a collection of empty five-gram vials.

At 7:35 pm police officers arrested and charged Ken Strain, age 37 of 130 Arden Street with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of a Controlled Drug. Upon arrest Ken Strain was found to have a five-gram vial of cannabis resin in his shirt.

Total street value of illicit drugs seized in relation to Ken Strain is $956.00 (47.8 grams of cannabis resin being 42.8 plus 5 grams). At the time of this offence, Ken Strain was on a recognizance/probation order with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior, which he violated. Officers also charged him with Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.

At this time, Police Officers also arrested and charged Sandra Strain, age 35 of 130 Arden Street with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

At 8:22 pm Police Officers made a third arrest in relation to this warrant arresting Mark Strain, age 18 of 130 Arden Street and charging him with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of a Controlled Drug and Breach of Probation. He will also appear in bail court today.


ARRESTED FOR PROBATION VIOLATION
On Monday, March 24, 2003 at 1:12 am, police went to an Alexandra Street residence for a curfew check. There they spoke with the mother of the male they were checking on.

Police were advised that her son had not been home for approximately one week. Officers were unable to locate the accused at the time and a warrant was issued for his arrest for breaching his curfew.

At 3:45 am this morning the accused called Police and advised that he would be walking on Pim Street if they wanted him. True to his word, at 3:50 am, patrol officers located the 19-year-old male walking on Pim Street near MacDonald Ave. and executed the arrest warrant.

He has been charged with Breach of Probation under the Criminal Code and two counts of Breach of Probation under the Young Offenders Act. He will appear in bail court.


BREAK & ENTERS
The police service is investigating two break-ins from yesterday. At shortly after 8:00 am, officers were called to a break-in at Flowers with Flair at 280H Bruce Street where thieves broke in sometime overnight.

At 8:20 pm Police Officers were called to a break-in of a house under construction off of Fifth Line East. Both occurrences are currently under investigation and anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.
