WATCH: Record breaking drug bust

'If you're profiting from this poison, and harming our community, we will seize your drugs, we will take your cash and your property and put you before the court,' said Police Chief Stevenson

Sault Police Chief Hugh Stevenson spoke at a press conference today about the recent bust.

Stevenson noted many of the accused were out on bail. He said changes must be addressed with the current system now in place.

Approximately $470,000 worth of narcotics was seized during MacDonald Avenue search warrants, including 700 grams of fentanyl, a record one-time seizure for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

Five people were arrested as a result of this incident.

Another $620,000 in drugs was seized following searches in Oshawa and Whitby
