VIDEO: March cheque fraud incident remains under investigation

Two suspects cashed the cheque at a Wellington East ATM on March 16

Sault Police hope to identify two suspect in a recent fraud investigation.

A news release issued today by Crime Stoppers states that a male and a female cashed a cheque worth approximately $685 at a Wellington Street East ATM last month.

Full text of the Crime Stoppers release follows:

Crime Stoppers and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are requesting your assistance in identifying suspects involved in an incident of fraud.

On March 16, 2021, an unknown male and unknown female suspect attended an ATM in the area of Wellington Street East.

A cheque for approximately $685 was cashed.

The female had brown hair and was wearing a white ball cap, red coat with fur, light blue jeans, and boots. The male was wearing a dark hoodie with stripes, track pants with stripes, sunglasses, and a mask.
