Vehicles sustain heavy damage in downtown collision

Airbags were deployed in both vehicles at Bruce and Wellington; no injuries have been reported

A two-vehicle collision near the downtown core slowed traffic just before lunch hour today.

The intersection of Bruce Street and Wellington Street East was littered with debris as a mid-sized SUV and a sedan were left with significant damage.

Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.

Police had traffic blocked in several directions as emergency crews monitored and cleared the scene.

A tow truck arrived to the intersection shortly before noon.

No injuries have been reported and traffic has since reopened.

The cause of the collision is currently undetermined.

SooToday will provide additional details as more information becomes available.
