Two arrested for drug trafficking

On June 12, 2018, officers with the Drug Unit and Crime Suppression Unit of The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 56-year-old Lawrence Steinburg and 54-year-old Kelly Keller of Pine Street for trafficking a controlled substance.

It is alleged that on June 12, 2018, the accused, Mr. Steinburg, provided money to Ms. Keller in exchange for an amount of cocaine. Officers observed this transaction and arrested both individuals shortly after. 

Ms. Keller was found to be in possession of Canadian currency and 1.26 grams of a substance believed to be Crack Cocaine that was packaged into six individual baggies. Mr. Steinburg was found to be in possession of 1.2 grams of a substance believed to be Crack Cocaine and 1.2 grams of a substance believed to be Heroin.

Ms. Keller has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. Mr. Steinburg has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of breach of probation. 

They were both held for bail court.
