Two arrested after victims assaulted with hatchet on East Street: Police

One victim was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries

Sault Police have charged Tori-Lynn Simpson and Christian Tucci in relation to an assault incident involving a hatchet that occurred Friday morning on East Street.

In a news release issued today, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the two accused assaulted two victims, one of which was taken to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

On May 7, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 25-year-old Tori-Lynn Simpson and 22-year-old Christian Tucci with assault with a weapon causing bodily harm.

At 8:58 a.m., officers responded to a call of assault with a weapon in the 100 block of East Street. It’s alleged Mr. Tucci struck a male victim with a hatchet several times and pushed a female victim to the ground and hit her while she was on the ground. It’s also alleged Ms. Simpson struck the female victim with an axe handle and slapped the male victim.

The male victim was taken to hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Upon arrival, officers attempted to arrest both of the accused but they both resisted. Officers were able to gain control of them and they were arrested.

Both of the accused are charged with assault with a weapon causing bodily harm, assault and resisting arrest. Ms. Simpson is also charged with obstructing police. They were both held for bail.
