Two persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 52 year-old Peter Mattalo of 55 Johnson Avenue was arrested on the 8th of September at 1:16 pm on Queen Street East and charged with four counts of threaten death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 4th of September the accused left threatening messages on the voice mail of an officer at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service threatening to injure and kill two police officers at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and also made threats to kill two of his neighbours. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

2) A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 8th of September at 4:40 pm on Macdonald Avenue and charged with two counts of mischief and two counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 8th of September just after 4 pm the accused smashed a front window at a Youth residence and then damaged the front fender of one of the worker’s vehicles when leaving. At the time of the offence he was on conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrant:

24 year-old Crystal Hache of 335 Beverley Street was arrested on the 8th of September at 8:40 pm at the police station after turning herself in on an outstanding warrant. She was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance. She is to appear in court on the 20th of October.

High School Student Charged with Threatening:

A 17 year-old male youth was arrested at a local high school on the 8th of September at 1 pm and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 8th of September just after 11 am the accused threatened to stab a fellow student while in class at the school. He is to appear in court on the 14th of October.

Shoplifting Charges:

38 year-old Roberts Febbraro of 443 Doncaster Road was arrested on the 8th of September at 4 pm at Joe’s No Frills on Korah Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 8th of September the accused attended at Joe’s No Frills and stole four steaks. He was apprehended by store security and police were called. He is to appear in court on the 20th of October.

Property Crimes: Fire at Local High School

City police attended at Korah Collegiate High School on Goulais Avenue yesterday morning around 10:01 am after being notified by Fire Services of a fire at the school. Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was in one of the student lockers. The students were evacuated and not allowed back in for the day so smoke could be cleared. There were no injuries. Two other lockers and a portion of a wall also received damage as a result of the fire.

Investigation Services is currently investigating this as a suspicious fire.
