Dangerous Driving, Threatening & Breach

On the 1st of September just after 4 pm a 49 year old male followed his ex-girlfriend and her boyfriend to the McDonald’s restaurant on Great Northern Road and made threatening gestures with his hands towards both individuals. The boyfriend exited the restaurant and was struck by a vehicle driven by the accused. The accused left the scene and attended at the police station. He has been charged with 1 count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle- causing bodily harm, 1 count of threatening death and bodily harm, 1 count of attempted murder and 2 counts of breach of recognizance. He will be appearing in court this morning. The victim in this incident has suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Assault & Breach

On the 31st of August, City Police arrested an 18 year old male and charged him with 1 count of assault, 1 count of breach of recognizance and 1 count of mischief under $5000. It is believed that on the 23rd of August the accused assaulted his girlfriend by punching her in the stomach and threatening to punch her in the teeth. Approximately 1 month ago the accused bleached and burned the victims clothing. The accused is on a release document to not communicate, molest, harass or annoy the victim. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Three Domestic Incidents

1) On the 1st of September Police were called to a west end residence regarding a domestic related incident. It is believed that a 16 year old male attended at his ex-girlfriends residence and was involved in a verbal argument with her and smashed a mirror on the porch. He then left the residence on foot and was approached by officers. The accused brandished a knife and swung at officers sitting in a marked vehicle. He was subsequently arrested and handcuffed. He has been charged with 1 count of mischief under $5000, 1 count of assault with a weapon, 1 count of assaulting police officer and 1 count of breach of probation. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

2) Officers were called to a domestic dispute in the Prince Township area just after 8pm on the 2nd of September. There officers arrested a 43 year old female and charged her with 2 counts of breaching her recognizance of notifying her change of address and not to molest, harass or annoy her boyfriend. It is believed that she was residing with her boyfriend and had not made any notification to change her address and she was involved in a verbal argument with her boyfriend. She will be appearing in bail court this morning.

3) A 40 year old female has been charged in a domestic related incident. It is believed that the accused assaulted her husband by hitting him with a serving spoon; scratch him in the face and biting his forearm. The accused also scratch her son when she grabbed him by the collar. She has been arrested and charged with 1 count of assault and 1 count of assault causing bodily harm. She is scheduled to appear in court on the 17th of October.

Stolen Vehicle

In the early morning hours of the 2nd of September an 18year old male attended at the parking lot of 49 St. Mary’s River Drive where he used a screw driver to gain entry to a vehicle and then damaged the console to start the vehicle. The vehicle, a 1999 Plymouth Neon was observed by police and pulled over while it was traveling west bound on Wellington Street East. Derrick Iames Zorn of 264 Albert Street East has been charged with 1 count of theft over $5000 and will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Counterfeit Money

At approximately 1am on the 2nd of September 22 year old Aaron Andrew Degroot of 25 Grosvenor Avenue attended at the Studio10 and attempted to pay for drinks with counterfeit money. Police were called when the money was believed to be counterfeit by one of the staff on duty. The accused has been charged with 1 count of possession of counterfeit money and 1 count of uttering counterfeit money. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Mischief under $5,000

On the 2nd of September a 31 year old male attended at his girlfriend’s residence where it is believed he flicked a lit cigarette at her, placed a running hose into a vent to her house, flatten a bicycle tire, dump a flower planter and threw flowers at her house. He has been charged with 1 count of mischief under $5000 and 1 count of assault with a weapon. He is scheduled to appear in court on October 10th.

Theft Under $5,000

32 year old Heidi Jo Babic of 17 Jody Lane Heyden Ontario has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000. It is believed that on the 2nd of September the accused attended at the Wal-Mart store on Great Northern Road where she was observed removing price tags from articles in the store and placing them into her personal bag. The accused then proceeded to leave the store and making no attempt to pay for the articles. She was arrested by store staff and held until police arrived. She will be attending court on the 15th of October.

Assault

1) At approximately 10:30 pm on the 1st of September a 27 year old male assaulted his common-law wife by forcing her around their residence and flicking his hands towards her face. City Police were called and the accused was charged with 1 count of assault and will be appearing in bail court this morning.

2) 40 year old Arvo Alan Richard Leppanen of 25 Wellington Street West has been charged with 1 count of assault, 1 count of causing a disturbance and 1 count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is believed that the accused was at the Sault Area Hospital when he assaulted a registered nurse on duty by throwing an ice pack directly at her and sticking her hand. The accused also caused a disturbance by screaming and yelling. He has been charged and will be appearing in court on the 15th of October.

3) On the 31st of August a male entered the residence of a person known to him and assaulted the female by punching her several times in the head. The accused and the female then fell to the floor where the victim struck her head. The victim’s husband then held the accused until the police arrived. 44 year old Ronald Reedy of 240 Hudson Street has been charged with 1 count of assault causing bodily harm. He will be appearing in court on the 1st of October.

4) 20 year old Skye- Lee Caicco of 156 Wilding Avenue has been charged with 1 count assault. It is believed the accused was at Smokey’s Bar when she assaulted a male by punching him 3 times in the face. The accused is not known to the victim. She will be appearing in court on the 15th of October.
