YOUTH ALTERNATE SENTENCE On the 22nd of September 2003, three young persons left school at 12:00 pm and walked to a downtown restaurant. There they entered three vehicles, and took four CD's and a walking cane.
YOUTH ALTERNATE SENTENCE
On the 22nd of September 2003, three young persons left school at 12:00 pm and walked to a downtown restaurant. There they entered three vehicles, and took four CD's and a walking cane. The three then walked to a nearby business and used the cane to scratch a vehicle parked there. The group then entered and removed two CD's and change from vehicles parked near by. In a parking lot several blocks away the young persons entered a trailer. The three young persons then proceeded home and the police were notified of the incident. Patrol officers attended at the young persons residences at 3:45 pm and an alternate resolution under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was arranged. The youth will write letters to all the victims and hand deliver them.

PARTY DON'TS
On the 7th of June 2003 the accused, a 17-year-old young person was a party on Blake Street when the youth threw a beer bottle at a police car parked in the driveway of the residence. The city police cruiser received minimal damage in the incident and no one was injured. Patrol officers could not locate the accused that evening, however on August the 5th patrol officers arrested and charged the youth with Mischief and Breach of Probation. On the 23rd of September 2003 at approximately 1:38 am police officers were conducting a vehicle stop in the city when a police records check revealed that the youth in the car was the accused in the mischief. Officers learned that the youth had failed to appear in court on this charge. Patrol officers executed the outstanding arrest warrant for Failing to Appear in Court and the youth will now appear in bail court today.

KEEPING BAD COMPANY
On the 12th of June 2003, the accused Brian Wing, age 19 of 144 Frontenac Street was associating with a male he was on release conditions not to associate. Patrol officers had checked a vehicle on Bruce Street and located the accused and the male in the same vehicle. Wing was arrested and charged that evening with Breaching his Undertaking. On the 23rd of September 2003 at 1:47 am, Wing was located on McNabb Street near Black Road. Patrol officers approached him and asked him his name, to which he swore at them and fled on foot. Patrol officers after a short foot pursuit apprehended Wing. He was arrested on several outstanding warrants including Causing a Disturbance, Resist Arrest and Breach of Undertaking. He has also been charged with three counts of Failing to Appear in Court. He will appear in bail court today.

EARLY MORNING MISCHIEF
At approximately 2:00 am on September 23, 2003 patrol officers were in the process of investigating several mischief’s and thefts to vehicles in the general area of Black Rd. and McNabb Street when they stopped a car with two young persons in it. The young persons were found to be in possession of a stolen car stereo and a screwdriver that officers believe was used to enter cars with. Both young persons were arrested and charged with Possession of House Breaking Tools and Possession of Stolen Property. They will appear in bail court today.

BREAK INS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two break ins yesterday. On the 22nd of September at shortly after 8:00 am patrol officers attended at Kings Confectionary, 175 Queen Street East in regards to a break and enter. The victim advised that someone had thrown an object through the front window, entered the store and removed a quantity of cigarettes. Damage to the building is estimated at approximately $500.00. A suspect in this crime is described as being a male approximately 5'9" tall, with medium dark hair, wearing a long tan coat, with a thin build. He was last seen running towards station mall.

And shortly after 8:00 pm yesterday, patrol officers were called to the 100 block of Gore Street where thieves had tried unsuccessfully to break in to a persons residence. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers
