Arrested on Outstanding Warrants

The following two male persons were arrested yesterday afternoon on outstanding warrants while in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre both are to appear bail court this morning:

1) David George, age 28, charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of fail to appear court.

2) A 26 year-old male charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm in relation to a domestic related incident, one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of fail to remain at accident and one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Domestic Related Arrest:

A 47 year-old female was arrested on the 15th of September at 11:45 pm at her residence and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the accused got into a verbal argument with her common law spouse at their residence, grabbed two knives from the kitchen and swung them towards him. She also threatened to stab him and cut a phone cord in the home.
She is to appear in bail court this morning. No injuries were reported.

Male Arrested after Turning Himself in on Outstanding Warrant:

44 year-old Robert Johnson of #201-772 Wellington Street East was arrested at the police station yesterday afternoon at 12:38 pm after turning himself in on an outstanding warrant for fail to appear for prints from the 20th of August. He is to appear in court on the 20th of October.

Youth Charged for Shoplifting:

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 15th of September at 12:40 pm at Rome’s Independent Grocers and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused attended at the store and stole a chocolate bar and some gum. He was apprehended by store security and held for police. He is to appear in court on the 21st of October.

Police Investigate Two Motor Vehicle Collisions with Injuries:

1) City police attended at a motor vehicle collision on the 15th of September at 11:55 am at Carmen’s Way near Second Line East that sent one 68 year-old female to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. It is alleged that a Ford vehicle that was travelling eastbound on Carmen’s Way struck a Nissan car that was also eastbound on Carmen’s Way and had just stopped for an amber light at Second Line East. The driver of the Ford, 62 years-old John Rice, of 17 Admiral Driver, not injured in the collision, was charged with one count of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

2) City police were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Second Line West in Prince Township that involved a motorcycle last evening around 7:08 pm. It is alleged that the driver of a 1994 Harley Softail that was travelling westbound on Second Line West, lost control of his motorcycle on the curve just passed the Prince Township Hall. The bike skidded over the shoulder and entered the ditch on the north side of the roadway. The driver was thrown from the motorcycle and was sent to hospital by ambulance for the treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

As a result, the driver, 58 year-old Lionel Simonini of 11 Hill Road in Prince Township was charged with one count of careless driving under the Highway Traffic Act.

Property Crimes:

Two Break and Enter Reports

• The Sault Ste Marie Golf Club on Queen Street East reported a break and enter to the change room of the Club House that occurred sometime between 8 pm on the 14th of September and 9 am on the 15th. Cash was reported stolen.

• The Concession stand at the field area of the John Rhodes Centre was broken into sometime on the 14th -15th of September. Cash was reported stolen.

• There was an attempt break and enter to the compound at Frankie’s Automotive on Second Line West sometime overnight on the 14th-15th of September.

Mischief Reports

• Five vehicles in the lot at Boston’s Ltd. on Pim Street were keyed sometime overnight on the 14th-15th of September.

• Feces was left on a vehicle parked at a residence on Fourth Line West last evening.
