Drug Related Arrests:

1) On the 9th of October at approximately 6:42 am members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, Emergency Services Unit, Patrol Services and Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at 120 West Street, the residence of 34 year-old Satu Raitis. During the course of the search, officers located 1.9grams of cocaine, 39.5 grams of oxycodone tablets, packaging materials, a digital scale, a debt list, as well as 3 separate packages of marijuana, packaged for re-sale at the street level. Further, officers located and seized 1.3 grams of cannabis resin and 1 ecstasy tablet. As a result, Satu Raitis was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is approx. $1,056.00. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

2) On the 10th of October at approximately 7:45 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services attended at #5-109 Carufel Ave. in relation to a weapons complaint. Officers searched that residence and located 112 grams of cannabis marijuana, a digital scale and various packaging materials. As a result, charged was 31 year-old Berni Lynn Nadon of that address with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking, as well as one count of breach of probation as at the time she was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was approx. $2,240.00. Also, at the time Nadon was wanted on an outstanding order of committal for driving under suspension. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driving Arrests:

30 year-old Douglas Sewell of 1600 Third Line East as arrested on the 12th of October at 1:15 am on Pim Street and charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that on the 12th of October at approximately 1:15 am city police observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on Great Northern Road. Officers stopped the vehicle at an address on Pim Street and the driver, the accused, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. He is to appear in court on the 16th of November.

Assault Related Charges:

1) 47 year-old Constance Green of #1-120 Andrew Street was arrested on the 10th of October at 9:25 pm at a downtown residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 10th of October at approximately 9:15 pm the accused assaulted a female while at a gathering at a west end residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention. She is to appear in court on the 16th of November.

2) 53 year-old David Sweezey of 265 Alexandra Street was arrested on the 9th of October at 2:05 pm at the city police station and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 29th of August at approximately 6:30 am the accused assaulted a fellow employee while at their workplace. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention.
A 15 year-old female youth was arrested on the 11th of October at 5:10 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 11th of October at 2:58 pm the accused assaulted a male neighbour just outside his residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries, not requiring medical attention. The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of November.

3) A 15 year-old female youth was arrested on the 11th of October at 5:10 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 11th of October at 2:58 pm the accused assaulted a male neighbour just outside his residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries, not requiring medical attention. The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of November.

Domestic Related Arrests:

1) A 17 year-old female youth was arrested on the 10th of October at 11:00 pm at a west end residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 10th of October the accused attended at her ex-girlfriend’s residence, assaulted her and broke her glasses. She is to appear in court on the 18th of November.

2) A 17 year-old female was arrested on the 10th of October at 9:15 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 10th of October at 2:45 am the accused assaulted her ex-boyfriend at an east end residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. She is to appear in court on the 18th of November.

3) A 36 year-old male was arrested on the 11th of October at 12:10 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 11th of October the accused got into a verbal argument with his wife at their residence and assaulted her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

4) A 33 year-old male was arrested on the 11th of October at 1:44 am on Huron Street and charged with one count of assault, one count impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that around 1:30 am on the 11th of October the accused was driving in the area of Huron Street when he got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend, a passenger at the time. The accused stopped the vehicle and when his girlfriend exited the car, the accused got out and pushed her to the ground. The victim got back into the car and locked the doors. The accused then smashed the window and began to assault her once again when she attempted to leave. A witness called police and when they attended they found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. The victim received non-life threatening during the incident. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

5) A 23 year-old male was arrested after turning himself in on an outstanding warrant on the 13th of October at 1:13 am at the city police station and charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of mischief under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation in relaxation to a domestic related incident on the 30th of September. He is to appear in bail court this morning.
