Collisions Six motor vehicle collisions were reported to police over the past 12 hours, most due to weather conditions. The most serious occurred just before 10:00am at Black Road and Trunk Road.

Six motor vehicle collisions were reported to police over the past 12 hours, most due to weather conditions.  The most serious occurred just before 10:00am at Black Road and Trunk Road.  Injuries were reported and one of the drivers was transported to Sault Area Hospitals with non-life threatening injuries. The vehicles involved were a Mazda 3 and a Dodge Quad Cab Pickup.  Both drivers were charged under the Highway Traffic Act.  

Theft

A theft from a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of Pittsburgh Avenue from over night.  A wallet was stolen from an unlocked vehicle. 

Cars eneterded

Three other vehicles were entered on Grandmont Crescent, Northern Avenue, and Princeton Drive overnight however no items were taken due to the owners ensuring nothing of value was left in the vehicles. 

Attempt Break and Enter

There was an attempt Break and Enter to a residence in the 300 block of East Balfour Street during the last two days.  Entry was not gained however there was some damage to the storm door.

Failing to attend

On the morning of November 27th, 2012 Patrol Officers spoke with Laura Williams, age 39, of 130 Gore St. Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. A records check revealed that Williams was wanted for Failing to Attend Court on a variety of pre existing crime charges. She was arrested on the strength of this warrant and will now appear in bail court on November 28th at 10:00 am.

Patrol Officers today, arrested and charged a 16 year old male with Failing to Attend for Finger Printing.  The youth will attend in court for this charge on Dec. 18th 2012 at 9:00 am.

Several break and enters

Officers investigated several break and enters on November 27, 2012. Thieves attempted to gain entrance Foremost Pet Foods at 68 Second Line West but were unsuccessful. In a separate incident, thieves attempted to enter three businesses in the plaza at 360 Second Line East. They were able to enter one business and steal a guitar.

Search warrant executed:

On the 27th of November 2012 at approximately 8:00 am, members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, Patrol Services, Emergency Services Unit and Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit executed a search warrant at the residence on Goulais Ave. During the course of the search, officers located 5 grams of cocaine, 11 grams of cannabis marihuana, less than a gram of cannabis resin and less than a gram of cannabis hashish.  Officers also located various packaging materials, a digital scale and a quantity of cash.  During the search, officers further located a set of stolen golf clubs, digital camera and an electric guitar stolen from previously reported break ins. Officers also located a knife that opened with centrifugal force, making it a prohibited weapon.

As a result, Brandon Collins, age 22, of 320 Goulais Ave., Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine and marihuana), two counts of possession of a controlled substance (cannabis resin and cannabis hashish), three counts of possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a prohibited weapon.  At the time of the drug offences, Collins was bound by the conditions of an undertaking to abstain from the possession of non-prescription drugs, and was accordingly charged with breach of undertaking.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $ 740.00. Collins  will appear in bail court November 28th, 2012

Breach of recognizance:

32 year old Ronald Mearow of 441 Queen St. W. was arrested by City Police on the 26th of November for breaching a condition of his recognizance. It is alleged he missed an appointment with the John Howard Society back in June and as a result a warrant was issued for his arrest. He will appear in bail court on Tuesday.

Break and enter:

A West end residence was entered sometime in the afternoon on the 26th. A steel door located on the west side of the residence was bent in to gain entry. The thieves were able to make off with jewellery, a mac book pro, a blackberry, an ipod touch and an Armani watch.
