Arrests: Last evening officers from patrol services conducted a curfew check on 29 year old Perston McLeod of 859 Trunk Road #3. Mr. McLeod was not home.

Arrests:

Last evening officers from patrol services conducted a curfew check on 29 year old Perston McLeod of 859 Trunk Road #3.  Mr. McLeod was not home.  As a result a warrant was requested for one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a recognizance.  Officers followed up and located Mr. McLeod early this morning.  He will appear in bail court on November 21st.

30-year old Jeffery Odber of 1304 Third Line West was arrested this afternoon and charged with three counts of Criminal Harassment and one count of Mischief.  It is alleged that between February 2009 and the 9th of November 2012 City Police responded to numerous complaints of excessive noise coming from the Odber residence.  Additionally it is alleged that Mr. Odber also yelled obscenities at several of his neighbours and lit firecrackers.  He will appear in bail court on November 21, 2012

27 year old Tanya Vezina of 1304 Third Line West was also arrested and charged with one count of mischief.  It is alleged that on the 9th of November 2012 she was at her residence and had the music playing very loudly.  The noise disturbed the neighbours in the area.  She will appear in court on December 10, 2012.

Property Crimes

A break and enter was reported in the 200 block of Douglas Street.  It is believed the break and entered occurred just after 1 pm and an Ipad 2 was taken.

Two vehicles were keyed at Superior Dodge on Trunk Road overnight.

A vehicle on Grosvenor Avenue had the back window broken and an Ipod was taken.

A vehicle on was entered on MacDonald Avenue and two Columbia jackets and earrings were taken. 

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public to not leave valuables in their vehicles.

Hate/Bias motivated Assault Investigation

Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are currently investigating a Hate/Bias motivated assault that occurred on the 18thof November.  In the evening hours of November 18th, a female victim was walking in the area of the large Sault Ste. Marie sign on Russ Ramsey Way.  A dark coloured four door vehicle slowed down and pulled up beside her.  A passenger in the vehicle rolled the window down and dumped a bucket of water on the victim saying “Go back to your own country.”   Officers with the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are now following up this incident, and anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspects is asked to contact police.

Assault:

Officers with the Patrol Services Section of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a call at Sault Area Hospitals last evening and arrested 57 year old Sylvie Bernier for one count of assault. Around 9:30 p.m. while at Sault Area Hospitals, Ms. Bernier assaulted one of the staff members by slapping them.  Ms. Bernier was arrested and will appear in court on December 17th of this year.

Assault:

Officers with Patrol Services arrested a 21 year old male at about 5:45 this morning and charged him with one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.  It is alleged that sometime between the 1st of November and 12th of November, the accused assaulted his girlfriend by pushing her into a refrigerator and hitting her head off of a bed frame.  The accused will appear in bail court today.

Intoxicated in public:

49 year old George Desmoulin was located in the downtown area of the city during the early evening hours on the 19th in an intoxicated condition. Officers were unable to locate an address for Mr.Desmoulin and as a result he was transported to the Police Station and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Robbery:

20 year old Destiny Levesque attended to the City Police station on the 20th of November shortly after 1a.m. and turned herself in on an outstanding Robbery charge. It is alleged that Miss Levesque attended to a west end apartment on the 15th of November and physically assaulted and stole a gold chain from a female victim. She will be attending Bail Court later this morning.

Theft:

City Police attended to Johnson’s RV on Trunk Rd. on the 19th of November regarding thefts from the trailers at that location. Upon initial investigation it has been determined that 32 trailers were broken into and entered and at least 14 televisions have been stolen. There was also significant damage done to several of these units. The timeframe of this occurrence has yet to be determined and the investigation will be continuing.

Outstanding charges:

City Police officers attended to an east end residence at approximately 1:40 a.m. and located 29 year old Kayla Williams who was wanted on outstanding charges. Williams was charged in 2007 for Possession of stolen Property but failed to attend court on this charge. In more recent events it is alleged that she committed 2 counts of mischief on the 16th of November 2012 in Sault Ste Marie. These incidents had domestic implications. As a result, warrants were issued for all of these occurrences and Miss Williams was arrested accordingly. She will also appear in Bail Court later this morning.
