Two To Appear In Bail Court Regarding Domestic Violence

1) Last evening it is alleged that a 22-year old male assaulted his girlfriend at her downtown residence. It is alleged that the male hit the victim in the head with a shoe and also pushed a friend of the victim’s out of the way who was trying to intervene. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good as well as not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. The accused has been charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault and two counts of breach of probation.

2) A 19-year old male was arrested just before 2 am this morning and charged with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of criminal harassment. It is alleged that last evening the accused threatened to hit his ex-girlfriend over the head with a hammer. That during the course of the investigation officers learned that the accused will not leave the victim alone and had been cautioned by officers in the past to leave the victim alone. As a result of this the accused was arrested and charged accordingly.

17 Yr Old Charged For Break & Enter

A 17-year old youth was arrested just after 3 am this morning and charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence. An alert employee at a nearby business called the police to report that they observed a person climb over the fenced compound of the Memorial Gardens and enter that area. It is alleged that the accused entered a vehicle in the compound and stole a number of pieces of equipment including tape, exacto knives, hats and paint. As the accused was leaving the van the youth was apprehended by one of the workers who was on the site. The worker turned the accused over to the City Police. The youth will appear in court on June 13th.

Death Threat

33-year old Derek Miller of 4-680 Portage Lane was arrested and charged last night with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 8th of May the accused threatened to kick a male know to him. The accused was on probation at the time of the incident and was also charged with that violation. Mr. Miller will appear in court on June 12th.

Two Outstanding Warrant Arrests

33-year old James Syrette of 44 Nebenaigoching Street was arrested yesterday on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints. It is alleged that the accused failed to attend at the City Police on the 11th of April for fingerprinting and a warrant was issued. The accused will appear in court on June 12th.

36-year old Natalie Bowerman of 3-823 Wellington Street East was arrested yesterday on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints. It is alleged that the accused failed to attend at the City Police on the 24th of April for fingerprinting and a warrant was issued. She will appear in court on June 12th.

Assault

Last evening 65-year old Tony Famiglietti of 728 Third Line East was arrested and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on April 29th the accused assaulted a 71-year old male victim who is known to the accused. The accused and the victim got into a verbal argument that escalated. It is alleged that the victim was punched in the chest area and received a non-life threatening injury that did not require medical treatment. The incident took place in the city’s north part of town. The accused will appear in court on June 12th.

House Fire

Last evening City Police attended at a residence in the 200 block of First Avenue for a house fire. Officers assisted with traffic and crowd control in the area.

2 Acts Of Mischief

City Police received a report of 2 acts of mischief done within a short time period. Within the last few days on 2 occasions Joe’s Sport and Surplus located at 40 Queen Street East has been targeted by vandals.
