To appear in court 1.) At approx. 5:45 pm yesterday afternoon the Sault Ste Marie Police Service received a report of an elderly male walking on Gore St. carrying a handgun.

1.) At approx. 5:45 pm yesterday afternoon the Sault Ste Marie Police Service received a report of an elderly male walking on Gore St. carrying a handgun.

A short time later undercover officers attended in the area and made an arrest. It is alleged that Giuseppe Mancuso, age 72, of 293 North St. was carrying a 32 caliber handgun in a manner dangerous to the public.

Mr. Mancuso is charged with: One count of careless use of firearm, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and one count of carrying a concealed weapon. He will be appearing in bail court today.

2.) Yesterday morning City police were called to a local high school regarding a harassment complaint. As a result of a police investigation a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged with one count criminal harassment.

It is alleged that the accused repeatedly communicated with a female known to him, in a manner that was both harassing and caused the victim to fear for her safety. The accused will be appearing in court on July 4th.

3.) Yesterday afternoon the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to a downtown location regarding a threatening. It is alleged that the accused Corry Derasp a 38-year-old female made threats to kill a person known to her.

The accused was later arrested and charged with one count of threatening and will be appearing in court on July 9th.

4.) The Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to a west end residence yesterday evening regarding a driving complaint. Upon arrival officers were advised that a male person had driven his vehicle on the lawn of the complainant and had also caused damage to some of her patio furniture.

The suspect then allegedly threatened the complainant. A short time later city police located and arrested the accused - Stephen Hill, age 43, of 524 Goulais Ave. He is charged with one count of mischief under $ 5,000, one count of threatening death and one count of dangerous driving. Mr. Hill will be appearing in court on July9th.

5.) Yesterday afternoon City Police attended at a residence in the 100 block of Salisbury Ave and arrested a
25-year-old male. It is alleged that between the afternoon of May 27th and early May 28th the male broke into the residence and stole a lap top computer.

The accused Donald Larente, age 25 of 31 Old Garden River Rd. Apt. 220 is charged with one count of break and enter. He will be appearing in court on July 9th.

6.) The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received two more calls regarding break and enters yesterday. A computer was also stolen from a residence in the 1600 block of Peoples Rd. Four units at a storage facility in the 1000 block of McNabb St were broken into- at this time it is unknown what was stolen.

Busy city police

1.) City Police were also called to investigate three reports of mischief yesterday. A residence in the 400 block of Northern Ave .E. had a door damaged. A home in the 800 block of Second Line E. was the victim of a paintball attack. Several vehicles parked at the Leclair Fuels building at 1018 McNabb St. were entered and one truck was damaged.

2.) The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is asking for the public's assistance in locating any persons that may have witnessed a motor vehicle collision on Sunday May 27th at approx. 6:20 am.

The incident took place near the intersection of Gloucester St. and Wellington St.W. In the incident a grey Mercury Sable struck a home. Anyone witnessing this occurrence is asked to contact the Sault Ste Marie Police Service or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIPS-222.

3.) Yesterday evening, at approx. 8:20 pm the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to investigate a motor vehicle collision, with injuries, at the intersection of Great Northern Rd. and Northern Ave.

The incident involved a red Pontiac and a green Ford Explorer. Emergency medical service attended and transported the driver of the Pontiac to the hospital for minor injuries. Both vehicles received major damage. The collision is still under investigation.

Charged with Assault

Yesterday evening at approx. 7:00 pm 68-year-old John Dick attended at the Sault Ste Marie Police Service building and turned himself in on a charge of assault. It is alleged that on Friday May 18th at approx. 5:00 pm Mr. Dick assaulted a female, known to him, by grabbing her by the arm and slapping her twice. John Dick, age 68, of 137 River Rd. is charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm. He will be appearing in court on July 9th. The victim attended at the Sault Area Hospital and was treated for her injuries.
