A 55-year-old male was arrested yesterday afternoon after police were called to a downtown residence. It is alleged that at approx.3:30 pm yesterday the accused male attended at the residence of his ex-girlfriend while on a recognizance release order prohibiting him from attending at her residence. The accused is charged with one count of breach of recognizance and one count of breach of probation.

Youth Arrest

A 14-year-old female was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening injury. It is alleged that the accused female threatened another female known to her over money owed to a third person. The accused allegedly assault the female victim by punching the victim in the face and head and pulling her hair. The victim did not require medical attention. The accused will be appearing in court on July 8th at 9:30 am.

Two Shoplifters arrested

Yesterday city police attended at the Canadian Tire Store and arrested two persons for theft under $ 5,000.00. It is alleged that at approx. 2:30 pm Krystal-Lynn Hart selected a CD player and hid it under her clothing. It is further alleged that Elliott Southwind selected a wrench set and hid it under his clothing as well. Bother were arrested by store security and turned over to the Sault Ste Marie Police Service. Elliott Southwind, age 26, of 16 Terry Fox Pl. apt # 8, is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00. Krystal-Lynn Hart, age 23, of 167 Albert St. E. rear apartment is charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation. Both accused persons will be appearing in court on July 7th at 9:00 am.

Break and enters

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated two break and enters over the weekend. One entry was reported to a garage in the 300 block of Landslide Rd. A “mig” welder was stolen. The second entry occurred at the Jiffy Car Wash located at 32 Bay St. It is unknown what if anything was taken at this time.

Mischief

1) The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received three reports of mischief from over the weekend. A window at the Group Health Building located at 44 Great Northern Rd. was broken.

2) Highland Ford reported approx. 15 tires slashed on vehicles parked in their lot.

3) One of the prizes in then Sault Area Hospital’s, a 2008 Chev Malibu, parked at 32 Great Northern Rd. had one of its tires slashed as well.

Bears

It’s that time of year again. Police received two reports of nuisance bears yesterday. One was reported in the 300 block of Rossmore Rd. and the second was reported on Pointe aux Pins Dr. Please exercise caution when dealing with bears.
