Nine Arrests Resulting from Execution of Drug Search Warrant:

On the 25the of May 2009, at approximately 4:45 pm, members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, Patrol Services, and the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at 320 Goulais Avenue, the residence of 18 year-old Brandon Collins. During the course of the search, officers located 15.7 grams of Cocaine, 12grams of Cannabis Marihuana, approximately 1gram of Cannabis resin, 2.4 grams of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms), and a small Marihuana grow operation (4 plants). Further officers located 2 digital scales, cutting agents, grow-op materials (lights, fertilizers, pots, reflective sheeting etc), cutting agents, a can of Bear Mace (Oleoresin Capsicum), a small amount of cash, 2 cellular phones and various drug paraphernalia. As a result, 9 persons (6 adults and 3 young offenders) were arrested and charged with various offences contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Criminal Code of Canada. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $5900.00.

Adults Arrested and Charges - All Appearing in Court on the 29th of June:

1) 18 year-old Brandon Collins of 320 Goulais Avenue charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of production of a controlled drug or substance and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
2) 18 year-old Bradley Lato of 312 Dryden Avenue charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of production of a controlled drug or substance and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
3) 19 year-old Albert Lewis of 320 Goulais Avenue charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
4) 21 year-old Jamie Odorizzi of 329 Parkland Crescent charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
5) 22 year-old Amanda Boyle of $-240 Albert Street West charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
6) 24 year-old Ashley Hansford (f) of #6-110 Wilding Avenue charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of breach of a release document.

Youths Arrested and Charged – All Appearing in Court on the 23rd of June:

7) A 17 year-old male youth charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon.
8) A 17 year-old male youth charged with three counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of breach of probation.
9) A 17 year-old male youth charged with four counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of production of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of breach of probation.

Male Youth Arrested for Assault:

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 25th of May at 9:29 pm at an east end residence and charged with one count of assault and two counts of breach or probation. It is alleged that on the 25th of May at around 8:30 pm city police received a call regarding a possible fight involving several youths in a rear parking lot of a business on Trunk Road. When they arrived they discovered that the accused assaulted a 15 year-old male youth by punching him several times in the head. The accused is to appear in court on the 23rd of June.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant for Break and Enter:

24 year-old Jeffrey Godson-Roy of no fixed address was arrested on an outstanding warrant at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre on the 25th of May at 11:10 am. He was charged with one count of break, enter and commit in relation to a break and enter to a residence on Birch Street on the 25th of July. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Property Crimes:

Thefts:


• An 18 speed Raleigh Bicycle was stolen overnight on Lewis Road.
• Two Construction storage sheds on Oakland Avenue were entered sometime over the past weekend. Two generators and some hand tools were stolen.
• Several Potato chips were stolen from a Frito Lay truck that was broken into sometime overnight at the rear of the business on Great Northern Road.

Mischief Reports:

• A complainant observed two males damaged his vehicle parked on North Street by smashing out the lights. One was wearing a dark coloured bandana, both in their 20’s fled from the area before police arrival.
• Two vehicles parked in the lot at Western Automotive on Queen Street were keyed with the initials “BVB” sometime over the past weekend.
• A Laidlaw School bus had damage done when a male youth smashed out three windows and a fire extinguisher was expelled. The witness observed the suspect last evening around 9:19 pm running from the bus that was parked in the area of North and London Street. The male youth was wearing a white jacket or hoodie, white cap, with brownish coloured hair.
