Male Arrested for Arson
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old Jacob Ledyit of #3- 2 Albert Street West on the 22nd of May at 1:55 am and charged him with one count of arson – damage to property, one count of possession of incendiary material and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 22nd of May 1:55 am the accused lit some cardboard boxes and garbage on fire with a lighter at the rear of Albertoni’s Cakery at 177 Gore Street. The accused was observed by police that were patrolling in the area. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good.

Male Arrested for Sexual Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 39 year-old Delmer Aasen of #202-41 Old Garden River Road on the 21st of May at 4 am and charged him with one count of sexual assault. It is alleged that on the 21st of May the accused sexually assaulted a female known to him while at her residence.

Male Arrested for Residence Break and Enter
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28 year-old Blake Hudson of 28 Hughes Street on the 20th of May at 12:17 pm and charged him with one count of break and enter, one count of possession of break in instruments and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 20th of May at approximately 12:05 pm the accused entered a residence on Northland Road. Once inside, the accused encountered the homeowner and ran from the residence.

Police located the accused a short time later on Northland Road. When officers searched the accused he was found in possession of a small crowbar and a pair of glove. Further, the accused was found to be on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be good behaviour.

Male Arrested for Breaking into Vehicles
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old Troy Bozowskyi of Room #10-306 Korah Road on the 20th of May at 7:25 pm and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000, one count of mischief, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release document.

It is alleged that on the 20th of May at approximately 7:06 pm police were called to the Plummer Memorial Hospital at 969 Queen Street east when a male was seen smashing a window and entering a black Honda Civic in the parking lot. Police quickly located the male in the area and arrested him. The accused was found in possession of a package of cigarettes that he had stolen from the vehicle. At the time of the incident the accused was probation with conditions that he keep the peace and be good and further was found that he was breaching release conditions by not residing at his place of residence.

Break and Enter and Assault
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 49 year-old Fernand Chretien at 6:30 am this morning at the police station and charged him with one count of break, enter and commit and one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 20th of May the accused attended at the residence of a person known to him, forced his way inside and assaulted one of the residents in the process.

Domestic Related Arrest
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 29 year-old male on the 23rd of May at 9:15 pm and charged him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 23rd of May at approximately 9:10 pm the accused assaulted his girlfriend in the downtown area.

Male Arrested for Drug Trafficking
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team arrested 27 year-old Timothy Wilson of 445 Wellington Street East -rear-back apt. on the 20th of May at 4 pm at his residence and charged him with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 20th May at approximately 4 pm members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team executed a search warrant at the residence of the accused 445 Wellington Street East-rear apartment.

During the course of the search officers located 487 grams of Marihuana and 9.1 grams of Psilocybin (magic mushrooms) for the purpose of trafficking and 8.5 grams of Marihuana, for personal use. In addition, officers located $250 in Canadian currency-seized as offence related property, a digital scale, as well as other drug paraphernalia. The accused is to appear in court on the 27th of June.

Female Shoplifter Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 19 year-old Karly Boucher of 5 Alberta Avenue and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 20th of May at the accused attended at the Dollar Store in the Station Mall and stole a number of items. The accused was apprehended by store staff and mall security and held for police. At the time of the offence the accused was on a recognizance order with conditions to keep the peace and be good. She is to attend in court on the 20th of June.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 28 year-old Lynn Kwissiwa of 218 Cheshire Road on an outstanding warrant and charged her with one count of fail to appear for prints and one count of fail to appear for court in relation to a shoplifting charge.
