1) A 17 year old male will be in bail court this morning charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property. It is alleged the accused was in possession of a 2006 KTM dirt bike that had been taken from a break and enter to a shed at a residence on Ontario Ave. While police were investigating the attempted theft of a four wheeler at a residence on Old Garden River Road, they heard the dirt bike start up. They followed the bike until the came across it abandoned in an area located at the extension of Second Line east, east of Black Road. The canine unit tracked the suspect to a building which he had taken refuge. This occurred on the 16 May 2009 at 03:36 am. The break in to the shed occurred overnight of the 14th to the 15th of May 2009.

2) 20 year old Victoria Patricia Petts of 186 Tancred Street will be in bail court the morning charged with Break enter and commit, robbery and aggravated assault. These charges stem from the 22 April 2009 home invasion on North St. The suspects broke into the home, attacked one occupant and stealing money and jewelry. The suspect was arrested on the 16 May 2009.

3) A 17 year old male will be in bail court today charged with break and enter as well as breaking previous conditions of a court release order and 2 counts of breaching conditions of a probation order. It is alleged the accused broke into a home on Panoramic Drive on the 16 May 2009. That he fled when the owner confronted him. Police were called and the suspect located with the assistance of the canine unit.

4) A 43 year old male will appear in court today charged in a domestic related incident. It is alleged the accused assaulted his girlfriend by holding a knife to her throat and then kicking her. It is further alleged that the accused did threaten to kill the victim. The accused was also on probation and was not to molest, harass or annoy the victim. He was also charged with breaching that order. This occurred on the 16 May 2009 at approx. 11:20 pm.

Impaired Drivers

1) On the 15 May 2009 at approx. 10:00 pm Police were conducting an R.I.D.E. check on Carmine’s Way. That a vehicle checked was being operated by 62 year old Wayne Philip Michaud of 65 Adelaide St. That there was evidence the driver had been drinking. The driver was given the demand to provide a sample of his breath into a road side screening device. The driver registered a fail and was charged with consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on the 22 June 2009.

2) On the 16 May 2009 at approx. 8:34 pm police observed a motor vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on MacDonald Ave. The officers stopped the vehicle and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested. Charged with impaired operation and consume over the legal limit as well as driving while disqualified was Russell John Reid aged 40 of 1245 Wellington St. East. He will appear in court in June.

Possession

On the 15 May 2009 at approx. 2:15 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street team located the accused Lori Jean Alton aged 39 of 81 August St. with a quantity of marihuana. It is alleged the accused was in possession of 15.3 grams of marihuana and she was charged under the Controlled Drugs and substances act. Alton will appear in court on the 08 June 2009.

Break and Enters

Police were called to investigate a break in to a shed at a residence located on Ontario Ave. Taken was a 2006 KTM dirt bike (located the next day)

A garage was broken into at a home on McGreggor Ave. It is reported that a bottle of liquor was taken

A shed located at a residence in the 600 block of Northern Ave. was entered and four bicycles taken. The lock to the shed was cut off by the suspects.

A home in the 100 block of Plaintree was entered sometime on the week end; it has not been determined what was taken

A break in was reported to a porch of a residence on Coulson Ave. The suspects apparently cut the screen in the door to gain access. Nothing was reported taken

An attempted break in was reported to a home on Carlbert St. Someone had tampered with the front door as well as removing a screen from a rear window.

A break in was reported this morning at 03:12 am to the Beer Store located at 275 Second Line west. Several cases of beer were taken, responding patrol officers and the canine unit recovered the stolen property but the suspect(s) escaped. The investigation is continuing.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 17 May 2009 at approx 1:59 pm Police were dispatched to investigate a motor vehicle collision at the Bruce and Queen St. intersection. No injuries were reported. It was determined that a 2005 Ford Van was south bound on Bruce St. and collided with a west bound on Queen 2010 Toyota Matrix. The Ford received what is described as light damage and the Toyota received severe damage. The driver of the ford 51 year old Terry Kaczmarski of Cottam, Ontario was charged with disobey red light under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Mischief Complaints

A rock was thrown through a window in the 100 block of Princeton Drive, no suspects were located

A rock was thrown through a window in the 400 block of Second Ave., no suspects located.

A fence located at the rear of a residence in the 100 block of Queen St. east was spray painted with graffiti

A rock was thrown through the window of Lagrotta Antiques located at 808 Queen Street East.
