Male arrested for robbery


At approximately 3:50 am this morning city police arrested a 22-year-old male and charged him with one count of robbery and one count of wearing a disguise. It is alleged that the accused, David Dowding, age 22, of 203 Greenfield Dr. entered the Mac’s Milk Store on Wellington St. W. and demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk. The accused received a small amount of money and fled the store. The Sault Ste Marie Police Canine Unit attended and located the accused a short distance from the scene. The accused did not have any weapons on him at the time of his arrest. The clerk was not injured.

Two males arrested for break and enter

Just after 9:00 am yesterday morning city police attended at an apartment in the 100 block of Albert St. E. to investigate a break and enter. As a result of police investigation two males, living other apartments, were arrested for the break and enter. Donald Jacobs, age 51, of 157 Albert St. E. Apt # 5 is charged with one count of break and enter and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. Thomas Noble, age 26, of 157 Albert St. E. Apt # 3 is charged with one count of possession of stolen property.

Male arrested for possession of a controlled substance

Last night at approximately 9:30 pm members of the city police “Street Team” observed a male person smoking a marihuana cigarette in a car. As a result the male was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance. Upon arresting the accused officers located approximately 44 grams of marihuana on the accused. Charged is Daniel Arsenault, age 21, of 1592 Rumford Dr., Ottawa.

Male arrested for theft

Yesterday afternoon city police were called to the Wine Barrel, 674 Queen St. E. regarding a theft. As a result of police investigation Richard Turner, age 39, of 31 Old Garden River Rd. Apt # 117 was arrested for theft. It is alleged that the accused entered the Wine Barrel Store and stole a case of wine concentrate and then ttempted to return it for cash. At the time of this offence the accused was on a probation order release to keep the peace and be good. Mr. Turner is charged with one count of theft and one count of breach of probation. He will be appearing in court on June 2ns at 9:00 am.

Male arrested for driving while disqualified

Last night at approximately 10:00 pm city police arrested Thomas Piscopo, age 28, of 3539 Revelstoke Dr., Ottawa, and charged him with one count of driving while disqualified. It is alleged that the accused drove his vehicle while under a prohibition order. As a result of the arrest the accused’s vehicle, a 2003 Audi was seized.

Mr. Piscopo will be appearing in court on June 28th at 9:00 am.

Property Crimes

Break and Enters


A residence in the 200 block of Wellington St. E. was entered- unknown what was taken.

Last evening at approximately 8:00 pm two youths were seen leaving the scene of a break and enter at a residence in the 100 of East Balfour St. Only description received was that both males were 15-16 years of age.

Mischief

The soccer field fence at Elliott Park was damaged.

Theft

Construction equipment was stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Wallace Terr.

Tools were stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Connaught Ave.
