Phone Scam

City Police have been informed of a new telephone scam that is taking place in our area. The scam involves a recorded message that prompts cell phone users to respond to a message by pressing (1). The message, about winning a trip, advises the recipient to press one (1) to continue. By doing so the recipient of the call is allowing the caller to gain access to that person’s cell phone airtime. The calls originate from Miami Beach, Florida and will show a 305 area code number. Please do not press (1) if you receive that call. Just hang up.
