UPDATE: Attempted Murder On the March 20, 2009 at approximately 10:30 pm four males entered into a residence on Vera Street and confronted a male and female occupant.
UPDATE: Attempted Murder

On the March 20, 2009 at approximately 10:30 pm four males entered into a residence on Vera Street and confronted a male and female occupant. A struggle ensued between the male occupant and one of the suspects, resulting in the male occupant receiving several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to Sault Area Hospital and then transferred to Toronto for further medical treatment. Members of Patrol, Canine and Emergency Services conducted searches for the four suspects with negative results. Detectives from the Investigation Services are continuing the investigation.

On the 24 March 2009 at approx. 05:05 am, 25 year old Curtis Daynard of 389 Pim St. surrendered himself to City Police. He will appear in bail court tomorrow charged with the following offences, attempted murder, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence of robbery, threatening bodily harm, use firearm or imitation during commission of offence, pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public (being a knife) and possession of a restricted weapon.

Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is continuing its investigation into this incident.
