2 Males Charged with Aggravated Assault City Police attended in the 100 block of Tancred Street just after 3 am this morning in regards to a possible fight.
2 Males Charged with Aggravated Assault

City Police attended in the 100 block of Tancred Street just after 3 am this morning in regards to a possible fight. It is alleged that 3 males got into a fight which resulted in one male being taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The scene is being held by City Police at this time. A 28-year old male and a 30-year old male have been taken into police custody and charged with one count each of aggravated assault. The investigation is continuing and further details will be released later today.

Friendly Reminder

City Police would like to remind the public that some of the elementary schools will be finished today, and the other schools will be finished later this week. This means that the children in our community will be extremely excited knowing that 2 months of summer fun are ahead of them. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists to be extra diligent while driving in the school zone areas around town in the next few days. Throughout the rest of the summer, motorists should also remain vigilant, keeping an eye out for children, who will be playing in a variety of areas throughout the day.

Male Charged with Breach of a Release Order

50-year old Randy Baxter of 483 Nelson Street basement apartment was arrested last night just after 9 pm. Mr. Baxter was in the Station Mall while on conditions not to attend at the mall. He was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of breach of a release order and will appear in bail court today.

Male Assaults Girlfriend

A 43-year old male will appear in court on August 8th after it is alleged he assaulted his girlfriend last evening. It is alleged that the male grabbed a set of keys from the female, which were around a finger of the victim’s. This caused a slight injury to the victim. The male has been charged with one count of assault.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Last evening 42-year old Todd Petrie was arrested by City Police at the Station Mall. It is alleged that Mr. Petrie attempted to return merchandise valued at over $150 to the Zeller’s Store. However, the merchandise had not been purchased. Mr. Petrie has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and will appear in court on July 25th.


Shoplifting

52-year old William Hess of 311-751 Pine Street was arrested yesterday afternoon for shoplifting. It is alleged that the accused attended at Rome’s on Great Northern Road and left the store with a rib eye steak and some tofu. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to City Police. Mr. Hess has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on July 25th.

In the last 24 hours City Police received 4 reports of break and enters:

1) Yesterday morning a homeowner in the 600 block of Town Line Road reported their garage had been broken into and 3 generators were taken.

2) Thieves attempted to break into a home in the 400 block of Charles Street yesterday during the daytime but were unsuccessful in gaining entry.

3) A shed in the 100 block of Oakwood Drive was also entered and it is unknown what was taken at this time.

4) A home in the 100 block of West Street was entered during the daytime hours yesterday and thieves made off with some food, a cordless phone, a VCR, portable stereo, DVD’s, VHS tapes and Play Station games.
