Fraud Charges

Yesterday morning at approx. 10:10 am the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Fraud Unit arrested Sarah Bothwell, age 22, of 299 Farwell Terr. It is alleged that between February 2007 and May 2007 the accused forged and uttered cheques stolen from her employer, for a value in excess of $1,200.Ms Bothwell is charged with one count of fraud and 9 counts of uttering forged documents. She will be appearing in court on Sept 10th.

Assault Charges

City police were called to a west end location yesterday afternoon regarding an assault. Arriving officers received information from the victim of the assault and subsequently arrested 50-year-old male. It is alleged that the accused punched the victim in the head and then continued to punch the victim about the face. Charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm and one count of breach of probation is Kevin Miskimins, age 50, of 904 Wellington St.E. Mr. Miskimins will be appearing in court on Sept 10th. The victim was transported to hospital for treatment.

Breach & Fail to Appear in Court

Early this morning city police located 22-year-old Lance Walker and arrested on warrants for him for breach of probation and fail to attend court. It is alleged that Lance Walker breached his probation order twice by failing to report and by failing to comply with conditions. It is further alleged that he also failed to appear for court. Lance Walker, age 22, of 803 Queen St. E. apt # 3, will be appearing in bail court today.

Fail to Appear in Court

At approx. 9:00 pm last night city police attended at 823 Wellington St.E. and arrested Patrick Allen. It is alleged that Mr. Allen failed to attend court in June 2007. Patrick Allen, age 49, of 823 Wellington St.E. Apt #3 is charged with one count of fail to appear in court. He will be appearing in bail court today.

Assault, Threatening & Mischief

Yesterday evening at approx. 6:40 pm city police attended at an east end address and arrested a 24-year-old male. The male is charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening and one count of mischief. It is alleged that on July 25th the accused attended at the address of his ex-girlfriend and assaulted her. It is further alleged that the accused then damaged a door and a phone at her residence and threatened the victim before leaving. The accused will be appearing in bail court today. The victim did not require medical attention.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service was called to investigate two break-ins yesterday.

An apartment in the 600 block of MacDonald Ave was entered. Electronic equipment was reported stolen. A residence in the 300 block of Wilson St. was entered. Thieves stole a quantity DVDs and cash.

City police received three reports of mischief yesterday.

1) A vehicle parked in the 300 block of River Rd had a side window smashed

2) A vehicle parked in the 200 block of Wallace Terr. had all its windows smashed out.

3)Several vehicles parked in the 400 block of Old Garden River Rd. were spray painted.

City police also received several reports of stolen bicycles.
