Two Youth Charged after Stealing Vehicle Two males, ages 17 and 14 were arrested on the 23rd of July just before 11 pm on Mackenzie Avenue in relation to a stolen vehicle. The 17 year-old driver has been charged with one count of theft over $5,000.
Two Youth Charged after Stealing Vehicle

Two males, ages 17 and 14 were arrested on the 23rd of July just before 11 pm on Mackenzie Avenue in relation to a stolen vehicle. The 17 year-old driver has been charged with one count of theft over $5,000.00 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The 14 year-old passenger has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the 17 year-old youth stole the vehicle earlier in the evening around 7:40 pm when it was parked unattended with the keys inside at a business on Korah Road. The stolen vehicle information was given out to patrol officers. Police observed the vehicle later around 10:48 pm on Mackenzie Avenue with the two youths inside and they were both arrested. The 17 year-old male is to appear in bail court this morning and the 14 year-old is to appear in court on the 28th of August.

Youth Arrested for Being Intoxicated

A 17 year-old male was arrested at 10:40 pm on the 23rd of July on Farewell Terrace and charged with one count of being intoxicated in a public place, one count of escape lawful custody and two counts of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. Police received a call around 10:30 pm of a possible intoxicated male in the area of Farewell Terrace. It is alleged that when police arrived they found the male staggering in traffic on Farewell Terrace. The male was arrested and transported to the station. Once at the station it is alleged that the accused ran from the booking in area and out of the station. The male ran only a few steps and was apprehended in the driveway at the station. The male was on probation at the time of the incident with conditions to kept he peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Disobey Court Order & Impersonating an Officer

A 22 year-old male was arrested on the 23rd of July at around 2:17 pm at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of disobey an order of the court and one count of personating a peace officer. It is alleged that on the 16th of July around 8:30 pm the accused while in custody at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center, called his ex-girlfriend and falsely represented himself to be a police officer in order to communicate with her. The accused was on a court order from a previous domestic related incident with conditions not to communicate with the victim. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Three males were arrested yesterday by city police on outstanding warrants:

1) A 41 year-old male was arrested at 2:20 pm on St. James Street and charged with one count threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 21st of July during a domestic dispute, the accused threatened to kill his girlfriend at her downtown residence. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

2) 60 year-old Bert Crummey of #12-171 Bretton Road was arrested at 3:15 pm at the city police station after turning himself in and charged with one count of fail to appear court. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear in court on the 25th of June in relation to fraud charges from February 2007. He is to appear in court on the 27th of August.

3) 41-year-old Arthur Ranger of #1-110 Wilding Avenue was arrested around 8:20 pm at his residence and charged with one count of breach of a release document. It is alleged that the accused failed to report to the Sault Ste Marie Police Service on the 1st and 8th of June as a condition of a court order from a previous charge of possession of property obtained by crime in relation to a stolen vehicle in January 2007. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

The following break and enters were reported yesterday:

1) A resident on Lynn Road reported an attempt break and enter to his residence on the 23rd of July just before 8 am. The resident inside the home heard someone attempting to enter his residence and when he went to check the door he scarred off a male. Entry was not gained. The male was described as being 30-40 years old, approximately 5`10’’ wearing a red sweatshirt and black pants. The male was last seen running behind the residence.

2) A residence in the 1200 block of Wellington Street East was entered sometime between the 22nd of July after 10:15 pm and 7 am on the 23rd of July. Two guitars were reported stolen.

3) A residence on Simpson Street was entered between 9:30 pm and 10:00 pm on the 23rd of July. A Laptop computer and a purse were reported stolen.

4) A residence on Tancred Street was entered between 3:30 pm and 8 pm on the 22nd of July. A purse was reported stolen.
