Two Shoplifting Arrests Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Christina Murphy of 22 Ashgrove Avenue on the 18th of July at 6:15 pm and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 40 year-old Christina Murphy of 22 Ashgrove Avenue on the 18th of July at 6:15 pm and charged with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for a shoplifting incident from the 16th of June when the accused allegedly attended at the Mark’s Work Warehouse on Great Northern Road and stole several pairs of socks. The accused is to appear in court on the 22nd of July.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year-old female youth on the 18th of July at 3:45 pm at Zellers on Northern Avenue and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000 and on count of fail to appear for prints. It is alleged that the accused attended at the store on the 18th of July and stole some cosmetics. Officers also discovered that the accused was wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for prints from the 7th of December. She is to appear in court on the 23rd of August.

Theft Reports
• Two vehicles were reported broken into, one on Carpin Beach Road, the other on Cathcart Street. Wallets that had been left inside were reported stolen from both vehicles.

• Licence plates were stolen from a vehicle on Rossmore Road.

• A bike was stolen from a front porch on Albert Street West.

Mischief Reports
• A vehicle on Connaught Avenue was keyed.

• Two males were observed smashing a vehicle window in the 600 block of Queen Street East last night around 10:30 pm. One of the males was wearing a white shirt and beige shorts. The second male was wearing a black shirt and black pants.

Weekend RIDE Results
It is through the RIDE ((Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign programs that we are able to raise awareness regarding drinking and driving and keep our roads and communities safer. In a further proactive effort to reduce impaired drivers on our roadways, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service conducted a RIDE Program over this past weekend. There were 642 vehicles checked with two roadside test administered. Three other Provincial offences notices were given.
