79-year old male Arrested for Assault Yesterday evening at approx. 7:40 pm city police arrested a 79-year-old male and charged him with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on Sunday July 13th at approx.

Yesterday evening at approx. 7:40 pm city police arrested a 79-year-old male and charged him with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on Sunday July 13th at approx. 2:40 pm the accused attempted to run down a person known to him. In the incident the victim reports that the accused drove his vehicle on the sidewalk, at a west end address, in an attempt to drive over her. The accused and the victim have been involved in a landlord and tenant dispute. The victim was not injured. Charged with one count of assault with a weapon is Camilo Dimicoli, age 79, of 314 Devon Rd. He will be appearing in court on Aug 18th at 9:00 am.

Male Arrested for Impaired Driving and Failing to Remain

At approx. 2:20 am this morning city police were called to Tilley Rd regarding a motor vehicle striking a P.U.C. light pole. Upon arrival officers observed a single motor vehicle resting against a P.U.C. pole that had been knocked down. Witnesses advised officers that three occupants fled from the scene. The canine unit was called out and a search was performed. Subsequent to the search a male was located at a residence on Rush St. At this time the officers arrested the male person for failing to remain. It is further alleged that the accused was impaired at the time of the collision. The accused was transported to the police station where breathalyzer testing was performed. Randy Muto, age 30, of 14 Rush St. is charged with one count of failing to remain, one count of impaired driving and one count of drive over 80mgs.Mr Muto will be appearing in court on Aug 18th at 9:00 am. The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is still investigating this incident and attempting to locate the occupants of the vehicle. The P.U.C. was called out to repair the light pole. The vehicle, which was un-drivable, because of extensive damage was towed from the scene.

Youth Arrested for Theft Under $ 5,000.00

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 12:35 pm city police were called to the Zellers Store in the Station Mall regarding a young female shoplifter. It is alleged that the accused enter the store, selected a quantity of make-up items, valued at approx. $ 30.00 and then left the store without paying for any of the items. The accused was apprehended outside the store by security. Charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000.00 is a 17-year-old female. She will be appearing in court on Aug 19th at 9:30 am.

Youth Arrested for Breach of Probation

At approx. 2:00 am this morning city police located a 17-year-old male on Wellington St. W. Upon investigating the youth the officers detected the odour of alcohol on the accused. Further investigation revealed that the accused was on probation with conditions that he is in his residence between 12:00 am to 6:00 am and that he abstains from consuming alcohol. The accused was arrested and charged with two counts of breach of probation. He will be appearing in court on Aug 19th at 9:30 am.

Break and Enters

City police received four reports of break and enter overnight.

A residence in the 100 block of St.Basil’s Dr. was entered - it is unknown at this time what was taken.

A break to a residence in the 200 block of Alexandra St. resulted in the theft of a weed eater and two bicycles.

A residence in the 500 block of Wellington St. E. was entered taken were a lap top and electronic equipment.

An attempted entry was reported to a home in the 100 block of Ruth St.

Mischief

A vehicle parked in the 200 block of Trunk Rd was reported damaged yesterday.

Advertising signs at Muntz Stereo, 235 Trunk Rd were damaged.

Thefts

City police received two reports of bicycles being stolen overnight.

Four bicycles were stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Birchwood St.

One bicycle was stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Wellington St. W.
