Two persons to appear in bail court:

1) Yesterday morning city police arrested 46-year-old Edward Martel on two warrants. It is alleged that Mr. Martel failed to attend at the Sault Ste Marie Police Station for the purpose of identification on May 27th 2009. It is further alleged that the accused was on probation at the time of this offence. Edward Martel, age 46, of 28 Albert St. W. is charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of fail to appear for identification.

2) At approx.5:40 pm yesterday afternoon city police attended at an address on Cathcart St. and arrested a 26-year-old male on several warrants. It is alleged that on the 26th of June the accused assaulted his common-law partner by punching her in the face and grabbing her hair. It is further alleged that on June 29th the accused attended at the Station Mall Island Ink kiosk and stole a purse. The accused is further alleged to have stolen a bicycle from 111 Tancred St. on July 13th. At the time of his arrest the accused was searched by police and a small quantity of hashish was located on him. At the time of all these offences the accused was on a probation order release. The accused, a 26-year-old male is charged with one count of possession of a controlled substance, two counts of theft under $ 5,000, one count of assault and four counts of breach of probation.

Male arrested for failing to appear for court:

Yesterday morning city police arrested 18-year-old Nicholas Fronzi, of 736 Mackenzie St on an outstanding warrant. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for court on April 5th. He is charged with one count of failing to appear for court. He will be appearing in court on Aug 17th at 9:00 am.

Two adults arrested for theft:

Yesterday afternoon city police arrested a male and female for theft under $ 5,000. It is alleged that the two accused attended at the TSC Store at 695 Great Northern Rd. and stole an electric grinder and two welders. The total value of the items taken was $ 1550.00. Daniel Murphy, age 18, of 160 Amber St. and Shelley Murphy, age 39, of 160 Amber St. are each charged with one count of theft under $ 5,000. They will both be appearing in court on Aug 17th at 9:00 am.

Vehicles parked in the following locations were damaged:
the 400 block of Third Ave.
the 200 block of St. Mary’s River Dr.
the 100 block of Bay St.
the 100 block of Foster Dr.
the 1400 block of Korah Rd.

A vacant building in the 200 block of Albert St. W. had approx. 17 windows broken.

Theft:

Money was stolen from a purse at the Holy Angels Adult Learning Centre.
A bicycle was stolen from the 100 block of Tancred St.
A vehicle parked in the 200 block of St. Mary’s River Dr. was entered and electronics were stolen.
A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Albert St. W. was entered – electronics were taken.
