Vehicle Stop Leads to Charges A vehicle stop by City Police night around 5:30 pm resulted in the arrest of two males who will appear in bail court this morning. Last evening officers stopped a vehicle in the downtown area for speeding.
Vehicle Stop Leads to Charges

A vehicle stop by City Police night around 5:30 pm resulted in the arrest of two males who will appear in bail court this morning. Last evening officers stopped a vehicle in the downtown area for speeding. Officers learned that the driver, Joshua Taylor, was wanted for a break and enter. It is alleged that Mr. Taylor broke into Prime Cut Meats located at 148 Northern Avenue on the 23rd of May 2004. It is alleged that the accused stole an undisclosed amount of money from the business. When officers arrested Joshua Taylor a search of the accused revealed a small quantity of what appeared to be cocaine. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with a number of conditions. Officers also searched the vehicle and located approximately 6 grams of marijuana and a butterfly knife. The two males appearing in bail court this morning are:

1) 30-year old Joshua Taylor of 509-631 MacDonald Avenue has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence, two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon, one count of breach of probation and one count of possession of a weapon contrary to an order.
2) The passenger, an 18-year old male, has been charged with one count of breach of probation under the Youth Criminal Justice Acct, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon contrary to an order.

Pine Street Incident

26-year old Steven Nicholson of 203-751 Pine Street will appear in bail court this morning along with 26-year old Martin Vine of 9-864 Queen Street East. It is alleged that just before 9 pm last night the two accused persons broke into an address in the 700 block of Pine Street and assaulted a male known to them by punching him. It is further alleged that Mr. Nicholson threatened to kill the victim. Both accused persons were on probation at the time of the incident. Steven Nicholson has been charged with one count of assault, one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of breach of probation. Martin Vine has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence, one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.

Several Reports of break and enters in the last 24 hour period

1) The Victorian Order of Nurses Office located at 550 Queen Street West unit 203 was entered over the weekend. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken.

2) Sometime between midnight and 6 am on the 7th of July thieves broke into a garage in the 200 block of Doncaster Road and stole a Craftsman tool set.

3)A home on Grace Street was broken into yesterday afternoon and a small amount of change and jewellery were taken.

4)Sometime between the 9th of July at 8 pm and 7 am on the 10th of July thieves entered a home in the 400 block of Douglas Street and stole an undisclosed amount of money, alcohol, a CD player and a radio.

5)Last evening a homeowner in the 100 block of Parker Avenue reported that their residence had been entered. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken.

6)Just before 3 am this morning City Police attended in the 400 block of Morin Street for a break and enter. Nothing appeared to have been taken and it appeared that the thieves had been scared off.

Bear Sighting

There was one bear sighting in the last 24-hour period. Yesterday morning just after 7:30 am a bear was seen walking in the area of Hudson Street near the tracks, headed east.
