Break & Enter in Progress On the 9th of July at approximately 9:30 pm city police were dispatched to a break and enter in progress to a residence in the 300 block of Cathcart Street.

On the 9th of July at approximately 9:30 pm city police were dispatched to a break and enter in progress to a residence in the 300 block of Cathcart Street. Neighbours contacted police after observing two males kicking in the front door, entering the residence and one of them coming out with a television set. Patrol officers were only a short distance away from the residence when the call came in and when they arrived they observed one of the males matching the description exiting the residence carrying a DVD player and a large knife. The male dropped the knife and television when police ordered him to and attempted to flee. This male was apprehended and while being arrested did struggle and resist the officers. The other male was observed leaving the east side of the residence and was also arrested. Officers located one of the suspect’s vehicle, a Chrysler intrepid with stolen plates on it, parked in the rear of the residence and located the stolen television from the residence in the back seat. One of the males was also found to be in possession of a stolen wireless PC Card from the residence. Both males were identified and when officers ran a check they discovered both males were also wanted on outstanding warrants from other incidents that they were involved in.

Arrested, charged and appearing in bail court are the following two males:

1) 25 year-old Gordon Bussineau of no fixed address was charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of theft under $5,000,00, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, and one count of resist or obstruct peace officer regarding the break and enter to the residence on Cathcart Street last evening. The accused was further charged on the outstanding warrants with one count of breach of a release order, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of aggravated assault and one count of robbery. These charges were in relation to an incident on the 5th of May around 2 am when it is alleged that the accused got into an altercation with a male and stabbed him with a folding knife. The incident took place on Gore Street in front of the Glow bar. The accused is also alleged to have stolen the victim’s cell phone during the incident. The victim on that evening had to be treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.


2) 25 year-old Thomas Fields of 84 Smale Avenue was the male that is alleged to have left the residence during the break and enter carrying the television and holding a knife. He was also found in possession of the stolen PC Card. He is charged with one count of break, enter and commit, one count of theft under $5,000.00, three counts of possession of property obtained by crime, one charged of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public. It is alleged that the vehicle that had the stolen plates on it, used in the break and enter belonged to this accused. The accused was also charged with one count of breach of a release document for failing to appear in court on the 11th of June.

Four Persons were arrested on outstanding warrants yesterday:

1) 21 year-old Marty Hunter of 20 South Gladstone Avenue was arrested just outside his residence around 1 pm yesterday. He is charged with one count of failing to appear for fingerprints on the 5th of June. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

2) 33 year-old Denis Lafond of 21 Queen Street in Hawk Junction Ontario was arrested at the court house around 10:50 am and charged with failing to appear for prints on the 24th of April. He is to appear in court on the 13th of August.

3) 31 year-old Ryan Benjamin of 673 Mcnabb Street was arrested at his residence around 2 pm and charged with one count of assault and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. He is to appear in court on the 13th of August.

4) 29 year-old Erin Mortimore of 21 Clearview Drive was arrested just after 10 am at the city police station after turning herself in. She is charged with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. She is to appear in court on the 13th of August.

Kids Assaulted

Two males, age 14 and 15 reported that they were robbed early this morning around 1:20 am in the area of Sixth Avenue. The youths advised police that they were riding their bikes on Korah Road when a dark coloured mini van drove by and a male inside swore at them. The youths swore back and they reported that the van started to chase them around the neighborhood. The vehicle caught up to them on Sixth Avenue and the two males, only described as being 16-17 years of age got out of the van and assaulted them. One of the youth’s also reported that his running shoes were stolen by one of the males. The youth’s were not able to provide officers with a plate or any further description of the van. The victims were not injured. Officers checked the area, but were unable to locate the mini van.
