Search Warrant Drug Related Charges

19 year-old Scott Donofrio of #5-715 Douglas Street was arrested on the 4th of January at 9:10 pm at the city police station after turning himself in on search warrant drug and weapon related charges. He has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count possession of a controlled drug or substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of a prohibited weapon. It is alleged that on the 4th of January 2010 at aproximatley 4:25 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Street Team and Emergency Services Unit, as well as Canine Unit and Patrol Services attended at Apartment #5-715 Douglas Street and executed a search warrant there. During the course of the search officers located various quantities of cannabis marijuana as well as associated property for trafficking in controlled substances, namely packaging materials and a digital scale as well as a knife which opened with centrifugal force, making it a prohibited weapon. The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of February.

Male Youth Charged with Taking Vehicle without Consent

A 17 year-old male youth was arrested on the 5th of January at 2 am this morning and charged with one count of take auto without consent. It is alleged that on the 5th of January at 12:50 am city police were called to the Adrian Drive area regarding a vehicle in the ditch. Officers located the accused at the vehicle and further investigation revealed that the accused had taken the vehicle from a relative earlier in the evening without permission. The accused is to appear in court on the 9th of February.

Break and Enter

An apartment at Terry Fox Place was entered during the day on the 4th of January. Jewellery, an MP3 Player and a Nintendo DS were reported stolen.

Theft Reports

Vehicles were entered on Cooper Street, Glenwood Avenue and in the 700 block of Wellington Street East. A Sirius satellite radio and two pairs of skates were reported stolen. There was an attempted theft of two snow machines reported from a residence property on Copernicus Drive.
