The following two persons are to appear in bail court this morning:

1) 26 year-old James Douglas Wilson of 167 Poplar Street. He was arrested on the 21st of January at 7:55 pm on Carufel Avenue on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court on the 1st of October 2007 on a probation and parole charge.

2) A 47 year-old male was arrested on the 21st of January at 6:50 am at the city police station after turning himself in on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of assault and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 14th of December 2007 he was at the residence of his common law girlfriend in an intoxicated state and assaulted her by grabbing her face and pushing her against a wall. At the time of the incident the accused was on a probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, that he not consume or be under the influence of alcohol while at the victim’s residence and that he was not to molest or harass her in anyway.

Drug Bust

Members of the Joint Forces Drug Unit arrested two males on the 21st of January at 2:15 pm at a local bar.
50 year-old Kirk Harper of #2-168 Andrew Street was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and 52 year-old Joseph Kelley of 183 Pim Street was charged with one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that on the 21st of January the two accused were selling drugs at this local bar. At the time of their arrest, 102 percocet tablets, approximately 20 grams of marihuana and an undisclosed amount of cash were found in their possession. The street value of the drugs seized was approximately $2,500.00. They are to appear in court on the 25th of February.

Two mischief reports were taken yesterday:

1) A tire of a pick up truck that was parked on Queen Street East was slashed sometime overnight on the 20th – 21st of January.

2) On the 21st of January an owner discovered that his vehicle had damage to the front fender. It is not known when or where the incident occurred.

Police Seek Driver of White Van

City police are asking for the assistance of the public regarding a motor vehicle collision they are investigating that occurred on Monday the 21st of January at 9:11 am on Moss Road. A 37 year-old female that was driving a 1998 green Chevrolet Cavalier southbound on Moss Road had to swerve to avoid colliding with a white Minivan that was reversing from a driveway on Moss Road. The driver of the Chev lost control and slid into the ditch. The female driver of the van stopped to see if the other driver was okay and then left. The driver of the Chev had to attend later at hospital for treatment of minor injuries. There was no vehicle damage reported.
