Family Dispute results in Charges:  

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15 year-old female youth at 8:12 pm last night and charged her with one count of assault, one count of mischief under $5,000 and one count of threaten to damage property.  It is alleged that on the 6th of February at approximately 7:50 pm officers responded to a family dispute at the residence of the accused and learned that she had caused damage in the home, assaulted a family member and threatened to destroy the house. She is to appear in court on the 13th of March. 

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 24 year-old Kenneth Solomon of 79 White Birch Drive, Garden River, Ontario on the 6th of February at the police station on an outstanding warrant.  It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for prints on the 23rd January.  As a result he has been charged with one count of fail to appear for prints and is to appear in court on the 12th of March. 

Male Charged with Theft from Motel:

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 51 year-old Ross Tanner of #212-26 Terry Fox Place at 7:10 pm last night and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000.  It is alleged that on the 1st of February the accused stole a number of items from a local motel room that he had been staying at. He is to appear in court on the 12th of March.

Male Youth Arrested on Outstanding Warrant: 

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 17 year male youth last night at the police station on an outstanding warrant and charged him with one count of breach of a recognizance order.  Is alleged that from the 20th of January to the 5th of February the accused breached his recognizance order conditions by not remaining in his residence daily between the hours of 9 pm and 7 am.  He is to appear in court on the 13th of March. 

Break and Enter/Theft Reports:

  • An apartment on Dacey Road was broken into on Sunday the 5th of January.  A LCD Samsung television, a DVD Player, a Playtstion 3 and other various items were reported stolen.
  • An attempt break and enter was reported to a business in the 200 block of Second Line West at approximately 2:24 am.    A window was smashed but no entry gained.  Officers searched the area with negative results. 
  • An attempt break and enter was reported to a vacant building in the 400 block of Second Line West at 9:55 pm last night.  No entry was gained.  Two youths riding bikes were chased away by a witness.  Police searched the area with negative results.  Description, one was wearing a dark coloured jacket and a toque, the other a light tan jacket and grey pants.  Both were short with thin builds. 
  • A trailer plate was stolen from Churchill Avenue.
  • A barbecue propane tank was stolen form a porch on Goulais Avenue. 
  • Vehicles were entered on Sherbourne Street, St. Patrick Street and Trelawne Avenue.  A wallet, cash, credit cards, identification were reported taken.
