Male Threatens to Cause Death

A 27-year old male will appear in bail court after being arrested yesterday on an outstanding warrant for one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on November 16th the accused approached his ex-girlfriend and threatened to harm anyone she dates as well as to burn her house down and her parents home.

Out of Control Male Arrested by Police

Just before 1 am last evening City Police received a 9-1-1 regarding a male out of control at an east end address. It is alleged that the accused was punching holes in the drywall of the residence as well as breaking household items. When officers arrived at the residence it is alleged that the 18-year old accused male came running down the stairs yelling and banging on the walls. When one of the officers went to arrest the male he broke free from the officer who was then assisted by their partner. The accused continued to struggle with both officers. The accused broke free from the officers and ran into the kitchen area where he allegedly pulled a number of knives out of a draw and held onto a butcher knife. Officers again attempted to grab onto the accused, but it is alleged that the accused began to swing the knife at the officers. The male was directed by officers to repeatedly drop the knife, and the male did eventually comply with the demands. The male was handcuffed and taken into custody. During this incident the male allegedly threatened to continue to break items in the residence. 18-year old Steven Russell of 24 Boston Avenue has been charged with two counts of assault police officer, two counts of assault with a weapon, one count of possession of a weapon for purposes dangerous to the public, one count of mischief, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of resist arrest. He will appear in bail court this morning.

Male Turns Self In to Police

41-year old Donat Cyr of 68 August Street turned himself into City Police yesterday on an outstanding warrant for fail to appear for fingerprints. It is alleged that he failed to report to the City Police for fingerprints on November 21st and a warrant was issued. He will appear in court on January 9th.

Stolen Bike

A 17-year old youth was arrested yesterday morning and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 1st of December officers stopped the youth in the evening hours while the youth was on a bike. A query revealed that the bike was reported stolen from back in August of this year. Officers arrested the accused yesterday and the youth will appear in court on January 17th, 2006.

Motor Vehicle Collision

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is looking for any independent witnesses to a motor vehicle collision that occurred yesterday afternoon around 2:30 pm at the intersection of Pine Street and Wellington Street East. A car operated by Bonnie Martel of 1-593 Wallace Terrace was traveling westbound on Wellington St East. A van operated by Hallie Bosnell of 9-1713 Queen Street East was traveling southbound on Pine Street. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Hallie Bosnell was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Bonnie Martel and her passenger received injuries but did not require medical treatment at the time of the incident. Both vehicles received light damage.
