22 YEAR OLD MALE CHARGED IN DOMESTIC RELATED INCIDENT

A 22 year old male has been charged with 2 counts of mischief under $5000, 1 count of possession of weapon for purpose dangerous to the public, 1 count of breach of probation, 1 count of assault with a weapon, 1 count of possession of prohibited weapon and 1 count of forcible confinement. He will be appearing in bail court this morning.

At about 4am this morning Officers were called to a noise complaint in the east end of the city. When they arrived they obtained information that a male was inside his girlfriend’s apartment with a knife and would not let her leave. Officers used force to enter the apartment and located the male and female in a rear bedroom. The accused was arrested without further incident. Further investigation revealed that the accused had earlier assaulted a male known to him by cutting him with the knife. The accused also broke a clock and a kitchen table belonging to the female victim. The knife used in the incident was located and found to be a switch blade type knife. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
The female in the incident did not suffer any injuries, and the male victim, was cut but did not require any medical attention.

16 YEAR OLD MALE DRVING STOLEN SNOW MACHINE

A 16 year old male has been charged with1 count of possession of property obtained by crime-under $5000 and 1 count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
On December 29th, just before 5pm Officers observed a male operating a 2001 Polaris snow machine traveling east bound on Lyons Avenue and south bound Goulais Avenue on the side walks at a very high rate of speed. Officers managed to have the machine stopped on Young Street and while investigating found it to have been reported stolen. The accused was arrested and will be appearing in court on the 3rd of February.

38 YEAR OLD FEMALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED DRIVING

On the 29th of December at approximately 1:40am,Officers were called to the General Hospital Site of the Sault Area Hospitals in regards to an impaired driver. When they arrived they found 38 year old Dawn Lee Kelly of 74 Champlain Street to be impaired by alcohol and arrested her. The accused had apparently driven herself to the hospital. She has been charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of fail to provide breath sample. She will be appearing in court on the 26th of January.

43 YEAR OLD MALE CHARGED WITH SEX RELATED CRIMES

A 43 year old Sault Ste Marie man has been charged with 2 counts of sexual interference, 2 counts of invitation to sexual touching- under 14, 2 counts of sexual exploitation -14-18 and 2 counts of sexual assault. The accused is scheduled for court on February 2nd.
It’s believed that between June 1999 and March 2006 the accused sexually assaulted a female child known to him on a number of different occasions. The accused attended at the station on the 29th of December to be interviewed and was arrested.

37 YEAR OLD FEMALE SHOPLIFTER

37 year old Shannon Catherine Edwards of 164 Hiawatha Drive, Wawa Ontario has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000. She is scheduled for court on the 26th of January.

It is believed that on the 29th of December the accused attended at Sears at 293 bay Street and placed a watch into a shoulder bag she was carrying. The accused then left the store without making any attempt to pay for the item. She was apprehended by store security and held for Police.

29 YEAR OLD FEMALE CHARGED WITH BREAK AND ENTER

29 year old Celine Gagne of 621 Mac Donald Avenue Unit#303 has been charged with 2 counts of break and enter. It is believed that on the 27th of December and again on the 28th of December the accused entered an apartment on Mac Donald Avenue by unlawfully obtaining a key and unlocking the door. She is scheduled to appear in court on the 26th of January.
