Male arrested for theft under five thousand dollars: 22 year old Cleis Christopher Neveau of 26 Boston Avenue was arrested at his residence on the 27 December 2009 at 11:05 p.m.
Male arrested for theft under five thousand dollars:

22 year old Cleis Christopher Neveau of 26 Boston Avenue was arrested at his residence on the 27 December 2009 at 11:05 p.m. subsequent to a theft that he was alleged to have committed at the Mike’ Mart (1230 Wellington Street East) at 10: 35 p.m. At that time, the accused stole two soft drinks and one orange juice (total value $7.57) from the store. He was charged with theft under five thousand dollars and released with a court date of the 01 February 2010.

Young offender charged for breaching his recognizance:

On the 27th December 2009 at 9:52 p.m. a 15 year old male young offender returned to his place of residence in the West End of the city with an odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. The accused was on a recognizance with a no consumption of alcohol condition. Police were contacted and released the accused with a court date of the 2nd of February 2010.

Break and enters:

A residence on the 200 block of Queen Street West was broken into sometime between 10:00 p.m. on the 25 December and 2:36 a.m. on the 26 December 2009. A quantity of cash and some cigarettes were taken.

Several construction trailers on Old Goulais Bay Road were broken into sometime in the morning hours of the 26 December 2009. It was unknown if anything was taken at the time.

A garage on Elm Avenue was broken into on the 25 December 2009 sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 7:25 p.m. A vehicle at that location was also entered but nothing appears to have been taken.

A residence on Champlain Street was entered on the 23 December 2009 sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. It was not noticed until later that the only thing taken was a lap top.

Seven people to appear in bail court this morning (stemming from six incidents):

1) 27 year old Joseph John Cellini of no fixed abode was arrested on the 24th of December 2009 at 42 St. Georges Avenue East. It is alleged that the accused had breached a condition on his Recognizance in which he was to be in his residence between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. At the time, Mr. Cellini was also wanted on an order for a committal warrant. The warrant stemmed from failing to report to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on August 6th as directed by a condition of his recognizance. He was thus charged with breach of recognizance x 2.

2) 27 year old Shane Chris Finucane of 8 Bolland Street in Killaloe, Ontario was arrested shortly before midnight on the 24th of December 2009 at 89 Hudson Street (Studio Ten). The accused refused to leave the premises when requested to do so and the police were subsequently called. It is alleged that the accused initially identified himself to officers as a Shawn Finucane with a different date of birth. Police were able to positively identify the accused despite his deception and further found the accused to be on a Recognizance with several conditions. The accused was bound by this order to not be in any place where alcohol is sold or dispensed and is to reside at an address in Renfrew, Ontario. He had since moved to a new residence in Killaloe, Ontario. The accused was subsequently charged with obstruct police and breach of recognizance x 2.

3) A 29 year old female was arrested at her residence in the east end of the city on the 25th of December 2009 at1:40 a.m. subsequent to a domestic disturbance. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her husband at that residence by punching and kicking him. The accused also threatened to kill the victim with a knife and caused mischief by pulling a phone cord out of the wall while the victim was on the phone with police. The accused was charged with common assault, assault with a weapon, threatening death and mischief under five thousand dollars. The victim did not receive injuries that required medical attention.

4) 20 year old Kevin Nicholas Robinson and 26 year old Curtis Matthew Daynard (both current residents at the Algoma Treatment Remand Centre) were charged at 9:05 p.m. by police in regard to an incident that had occurred at their place of incarceration earlier in the day. It is alleged that both accused parties approached another inmate in his cell at 11:40 a.m. and proceeded to assault him by punching and kicking him repeatedly. The victim received non life threatening injuries that did require medical attention. Both accused parties were charged with assault causing bodily harm.

5) On the 27th of December 2009 at 6:36 p.m. 27 year old Brandon John Soyatt of 198 Queens Gate Blvd. was arrested by Chapleau Ontario Provincial Police for several outstanding warrants held by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. It is alleged that the accused had previously failed to appear for three court appearances and was also wanted for a breach of probation. He was delivered to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service by the O.P.P.

6) 40 year old James Welvaert of 441 Queece on the 28 December 2009 at 5:18 p.m. for allegedly breaching his probation. Police had attended at that location for an unrelated matter and had found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was bound by a probation order with conditions not to attend that residence having consumed alcohol and was further prohibited from consuming alcohol while at that residence. He was subsequently charged with breach of probation x 2.

4 additional arrests to report from the long weekend:

30 year old Travis William Hopper of 535 Cathcart Street was arrested on the 24 December 2009 at 10:51 p.m. on the 100 block of Albert Street East for allegedly slashing tires of nine separate vehicles with a knife in that vicinity. The accused had a cut on his hand that required medical attention. He was charged with nine counts of mischief and is compelled to attend court on the 01 February 2010.

24 year old Lance Justin Wabigwan of 262 Wellington Street West Apt. #2 was arrested by police subsequent to a vehicle stop on Devon Road on the 26 December 2009 at 2:18 p.m. Officers recognized the accused and were aware of an outstanding warrant for him regarding two breaches of probation. The accused was released with a court date of the 03 February 2010.

20 year old Aaron Matthew Wissell of 1600 Wellington Street East was arrested by police at his place of residence on the 26 December 2009 at 3:55 p.m. on the basis of an outstanding first instance warrant. He was processed and released with a court date of the 01 February 2009

A 38 year old male was arrested on the 26 December 2009 at 11:20 p.m. at his residence in the east end of the city following a domestic dispute with his common law. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim by grabbing and throwing her. He was charged for common assault and released with a court date of the 03 February 2009. The victim did not require medical attention.
