Reminder City Police would once again like to remind drivers to adjust their driving habits according to road and weather conditions. Yesterday’s slippery and snowy roads resulted in 8 motor vehicle collisions.

City Police would once again like to remind drivers to adjust their driving habits according to road and weather conditions. Yesterday’s slippery and snowy roads resulted in 8 motor vehicle collisions. No charges were laid and no one was seriously hurt in any of the situations.

Trafficking Charges Laid

On the 16th of December the Joint Forces Operations Unit executed a search warrant at 94 Allard Street apartment 106. During the warrant officers found 3 pounds of marijuana, 300 assorted pills and various drug paraphernalia. The drugs held a street value of approximately $30,000. Officers arrested the homeowner 43-year-old Gerard Taylor in regards to this incident. Gerard Taylor has been charged with 1 count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and 4 counts of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance. The accused is to appear in court on January 23rd.

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Yesterday morning city police performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle, which had been observed driving in a dangerous manner. The vehicle a 2004 dodge pickup had been traveling at a high rate of speed on Great Northern Road, Second Line, Black Road and Trunk Road. The vehicle was observed passing vehicles in the center turn lanes and going through a red light. The vehicle was stopped and checked at the corner of Boundary Road and Trunk Road. During the investigation the driver threatened to punch one of the officers. Police attempted to arrest the accused however the accused resisted. The accused was controlled and transported to the station. 20-year-old Nicolas Stefan Gallant of Prince Edward Island was charged with 1 count of Threaten Death or Bodily Harm, 1 count of Resist Police Officer and 1 count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. The accused is set to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Charged with Assault and Theft

20-year-old Rolland Periard of 55 Francis Street will be appearing in bail court this morning. It is alleged that the accused attended at Sault College and was found in the office of one of the staff members, rummaging through their belongings, with the intent to commit theft. The accused was caught but shoved the staff member in an attempt to escape. Another employee came to help and the accused was held until police arrived. Roland Periard has been charged with 1 count of Break and Enter and 1 count of Assault.
