Motor Vehicle Collisions Yesterday city police investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions. In one incident a vehicle backing out of a driveway struck a pedestrian.

Yesterday city police investigated 7 motor vehicle collisions. In one incident a vehicle backing out of a driveway struck a pedestrian. It is alleged that 58-year-old George Leblanc of 253 Lake Street was attempting to back out of his driveway onto Lake Street when his vehicle struck 86 year old Helvi Punkari of 169 Lake Street. The victim who suffered minor injuries was taken to hospital by ambulance where he was later released. The driver was charged with Fail to Yield From Driveway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

In a Second incident 39-year-old David Wrona of 23 Haviland Crescent was traveling south bound on Willow Drive. 56-year-old Connie Avery of 169 Dagleish Road was making a left hand turn from the parking lot of 240 McNabb Street. It is alleged that Connie Avery pulled out of the parking lot in the path of the vehicle driven by David Wrona, causing his vehicle to swerve, drive up on the west side snow bank, strike the guard rail and come to a stop after hitting the telephone pole. The vehicles did not collide and no injuries were reported. Connie Avery was charged with Fail to yield from Driveway under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

A third incident involving 19-year-old Daryl Bouchard of 621 MacDonald Avenue who was driving an 86 Plymouth and 67 year-old John Mcphail of 40 Charlotte Drive was driving a 2003 Hyundai. It is alleged that the Hyundai was east bound on Bay Street passing the Dennis Street intersection when the driver of the Plymouth, which was north bound, failed to stop for a red light on Dennis Street at Bay intersection when the driver of the Plymouth which was north bound failed to stop for a red light on Dennis street at queen street causing his vehicle to strike the passenger side of the Hyundai. There were no injuries reported. Daryl Bouchard was charged with Red Light Fail To Stop under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

Male Charged with Theft

At approximately 11:40 am yesterday morning 36- year- old Natalie Bowerman of #5 river Road Heyden Ontario, was arrested at Wal-Mart by store security. It is alleged that the accused attended at the store purchased some items but made no attempt to pay for three cd’s, which had been unwrapped. The accused was apprehended and City Police were the called. Natalie Bowerman has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000 and will appear in court on the 19th of January 2006.

Youth Charged

(Elliot Lake, Ont.) On December 12, 2005 at approximately 2:55 p.m. police were called to attend a local elementary school regarding an incident involving two students.

Investigation revealed that after an encounter at recess both youth engaged in another altercation in their classroom. Both students were separated and the accused started running after the other youth. School personnel stopped the suspect and police were called. On police arrival the suspect stated to police that he wished to hurt the other youth.

A 12-year-old male youth has been charged with Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm. The youth, which cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
