Domestic Related Arrest Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 30 year-old female overnight and charged her with one count of assault.
Domestic Related Arrest
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 30 year-old female overnight and charged her with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 9th of August at approximately 12:10 am the accused assaulted her ex-boyfriend during a verbal dispute at her residence. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require any medical attention.

Male Arrested for Residence Break and Enter
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 18 year-old Jeff Humphries of 4 Raymond Street at 8:53 am yesterday morning at the Court House and charged him with one count of break and enter into a dwelling and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused was wanted for breaking into a residence in the 500 block of Second Line West and stealing a Lacer laptop from it on the 2nd of August.

Female Arrested for Internal Theft
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 23 year-old Danielle Leveille of 553 Brunswick Avenue on the 8th of August at 3:36 pm at Zellers on Northern Road and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that on the 8th of August the accused was working as a server at the Zellers Restaurant and while working the accused took $17.00 from the cash register. The theft was captured on store security video surveillance. The accused is to appear in court on the 12th of September.

Female Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 47 year-old Paula Desrochers of 220 Mississagua Avenue, Elliot Lake Ontario on the 8th of August at 3:38 pm at the police station on an outstanding warrant and charged her with one count of fail to appear court. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear court on the 30th of May in relation to a shoplifting charge. She is to now attend court on the 12th of September.

Thefts
• A BMX bike was stolen last night from a residence on Borron Avenue.
• Last evening, vehicles on Church Street and several behind a local bar on Queen Street East were entered and gone through.
• A bike rack was stolen from the property of Cambrain Mall on the 8th of August.
Break and Enter Reports:
• A residence in the 700 block of Wellington Street East was entered on the 8th of August between 8 pm and 11 pm. A computer was reported stolen. The homeowner was home at the time sleeping.
• A residence in the 100 block of Elgin Street was entered last evening between 7 pm and 8 pm. Cash was reported stolen.
• An apartment in the 800 block of Queen Street East was entered sometime overnight the 7th of August to the 8th of August. A LG Surround system and television were reported stolen.
• A residence on Texas Avenue was entered sometime between 1:00 am and 11:00 am on the 7th of August. An Xbox unit, a Toshiba Laptop and a broke were reported stolen.
• A residence in the 100 block of Goulais Avenue was entered sometime during the past two weeks. Jewellery was reported stolen.

Break and Enter Prevention Tips
Several of the recent break and enter reports occurred to residences where doors and windows were left unlocked. Some have occurred during the day time or early evening hours when alert neighbors could spot and report the thieves. If you are a neighbour and observe any suspicious person/s or activity in the area, call the police. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public of some break in prevention tips:

• Make your home appear occupied when you go out.
• Lock all doors and windows.
• Secure all doors with a good deadbolt lock.
• Install an alarm system.
• Leave lights on and the radio playing.
• Use timing devices to turn inside lights on and off.
• Keep your garage door closed and locked
• Lock all sheds.
• If you will be gone several days, arrange to have the mail and papers stopped or picked up. If you do not have anyone that can do this, the Post Office, for a minimal fee can hold your mail until your return.
• Inform your trusted neighbours you will be away and ask them to keep an eye on your residence or even park their car in your driveway. In winter, arrange for someone to shovel your driveway. .
• Keep valuables that may be irreplaceable in a safety deposit box, out of site in or home or in an isolated location.
• Take an inventory of your property. Use photos, videos, and /or DVD’s .Record serial number, engrave an identifying mark on property - this makes it easier for police to identify your property and harder for the criminal to sell/pawn.
