Domestic Incidents 1) A 40 year old female has been charged in a domestic related incident.
Domestic Incidents

1) A 40 year old female has been charged in a domestic related incident. It is believed that on the 4th of August just after 11pm the accused assaulted her common law spouse by punching her in the face while she slept in their downtown residence. City police were called and attended shortly after the incident occurred. The accused was charged with 1 count of assault and will be appearing in court on the 10th of September. The victim in this incident did not require medical attention.

2) In a second domestic related incident a 29 year old male has been charged with 2 counts of assault and 1 count of mischief. It is believed that on two separate occasions the accused assaulted his girlfriend while at her east end residence. In the first incident which occurred on July 31st the accused assaulted the victim by throwing a set of keys at her back and grabbing her by the arm. The accused in a second and separate incident which occurred on the 5th of August assaulted the victim by stomping and kicking her in the head. During this same incident the accused ripped up the victims pictures, threw a phone at a wall and ripped the television cable out of the wall. City police were called to this incident and found the accused hiding from police crouched in a closet. He was arrested and will be appearing in bail court this morning.

Theft Under $5,000

1) City Police arrested a 17 year old female on Friday August third and charged her with 1 count of theft under $5000. It is believed that the 17 year old attended at the LCBO in the Churchill Plaza and placed a 40oz bottle of rye in her bag then attended through the cashier area paying for other items but not making any attempt to pay for the alcohol. The accused was apprehended by store staff and the police were called. She is scheduled to appear in court on the 11th of September.

2) 18 year old James Charles Antonious McEwin of 40 Hynes Street Apartment #205 was stopped by City Police on the 4th of August on Queen Street at East Street while traveling in a Ford Ranger Pick-up. It is believed that he stole the vehicle from Mr. Transmission on Pim Street. He has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000 and is to appear in court on the 10th of September.

3) A 15 year old female who cannot be named has been charged with 1 count of theft under $5000. It is believed that on the 5th of August at approximately 3:30 the accused attended at the IDA Drug Mart on Second Line West and attempted to steal a lip gloss. The accused opened the package and placed the item in her bag. When approached by a staff member the accused dropped the lip gloss and fled the store. The accused was identified and was located at her residence at just before 5pm. She is to appear in court on the 11th of September.

Impaired Driving Leeds to Accident

On the 6th of August just before 5am City Police along with the fire department and ambulance attended at a motor vehicle collision which occurred on Cathcart Street near civic # 196 James Street. It is believed that an 89 Chevy Pick up silver in colour was traveling west bound on Cathcart Street where it struck a transport trailer which was parked on Cathcart Street. The driver 21 year old Damien Rene Belanger and his passenger had to be removed by the fire department and were both transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver suffered minor injuries and was charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of impaired driving causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on the 10th of September. The passenger in the vehicle suffered major injuries and remained in hospital for further medical attention The pick up truck sustained extensive front end damage, and the transport trailer received damages to the back end of the trailer.
