23-year old Paul William Edwards of 150 Upton Road will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested by City Police. Around 4 am on Saturday morning police responded to an address in the 200 block of Simpson Street for a break and enter in progress. Police apprehended the accused as he was leaving the residence.

Officers also learned that Mr. Edwards was on a release document with conditions to notify his change of address, which he had failed to do on 2 occasions. As a result Mr. Edwards has been charged with one count of break and enter and two counts of breach of a release document.

BREACH OF PROBATION

A 45-year old male will also appear in bail court his morning after being with his ex-girlfriend while on a number of release documents with conditions such as not communicating with her and not to drink. The accused was intoxicated at the time of the arrest. The male has been charged with 2 counts of breach of probation and 3 counts of breach of a release document.

FEMALE CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

Between the 31st of July and the 1st of August a 30 year-old female assaulted her male partner a number of times by striking him with a chair, stabbing him in the leg with a steak knife and finally by hitting him over the head with a frying pan. The incident occurred in the City’s west end. The male did not receive significant injuries and refused treatment. The female was also on probation at the time of the offences. The female has been charged with 2 counts of breach of probation and 3 counts of assault with a weapon. She will appear in bail court this morning.

IMPAIRED CHARGES LAID

Late Friday night City Police stopped a vehicle in the downtown area of Gore Street and Manilla Terrace after receiving a complaint of the vehicle swerving along the road and squealing its tires. Officers observed the male to be impaired and as a result John Page, age 51, of 141 Grosvenor St. was charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on September 13th.

IMPAIRED CHARGES AFTER ACCIDENT

On the 1st of August shortly after 8 pm Richard Witty, age 35, of 159 Turner Avenue was involved in a motor vehicle accident at Korah Road and Selby Road. It is alleged that the car driven by Mr. Witty turned from Korah Road onto Selby Road, spun around, struck a car that was traveling north bound on Korah Road and than ran off the road and struck a PUC wire. William Allen, the driver of the second vehicle, of 1155 Wallace Terrace did not receive any injuries.

Mr. Witty has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. He will appear in court on September 13th. Mr. Witty has also been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with fail to apply for permit upon becoming owner, use plate not authorized for vehicle and drive motor vehicle no licence.

RIDE CHECK LEADS TO CHARGES

39- year old Corrine St. Pierre of 26 Manitou Drive was stopped during a RIDE check conducted on the 2nd of August on East Street. Mrs. St. Pierre refused to provide a suitable sample of her breath for the roadside-screening device and was subsequently charged with fail to provide a breath sample. She will appear in court on September 13th.

MALES SMASH MAIL BOXES: YOU COULD HELP

On Sunday, the 1st of August City Police received a number of calls from homeowners on Allans Side Road and on Avery Road regarding their mailboxes being smashed. One of the home owners observed a red neon with what appeared to be 4 males inside going along Allans Side Road at 3 am smashing the mail boxes. Police were unable to locate the vehicle and suspects.
