The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Traffic Division Appealing for witnesses:

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is appealing for witnesses to a collision which occurred on Wednesday the 25th of July 2007 at 3:20 pm on Great Northern Road in front of Canadian Tire. The vehicles involved were a 1992 2-door grey Buick and a white Ford PUC Services Vehicle. Anyone who may have witnessed this collision is being asked to contact City Police at 949-6300 at extension #382.

Motor Vehicle Collision

On the 6th of August just before 5am City Police along with the fire department and ambulance attended at a motor vehicle collision which occurred on Cathcart Street near civic # 196 James Street. It is believed that an 89 Chevy Pick up silver in colour was traveling west bound on Cathcart Street where it struck a transport trailer which was parked on Cathcart Street. The driver 21 year old Damien Rene Belanger and his passenger had to be removed by the fire department and were both transported to the hospital by ambulance. The driver suffered minor injuries and was charged with 1 count of impaired driving and 1 count of impaired driving causing bodily harm. He is scheduled to appear in court on the 10th of September. The passenger in the vehicle suffered major injuries and remained in hospital for further medical attention The pick up truck sustained extensive front end damage, and the transport trailer received damages to the back end of the trailer.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Services Traffic Division is still investigating this incident and would like to speak with the individuals in the grey vehicle that attended at the scene shortly after this occurrence and were observed to be rendering assistance.

Youth Charged with Assault with a Weapon

A 14 year-old male was arrested on the 13th of August around 5:48 pm on Amber Avenue and charged with one count of assault with a weapon and one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public. It is alleged that the accused and another male were in the Parkland School playground area when they approached four other male youths and exchanged words. The accused pulled out a pocket knife, held it towards of the youths, grabbed him and tripped him to the ground. The other unidentified youth also pushed the victim. The accused was wearing a bandana at the time. There were no injuries reported. The youth is to appear in court on the 18th of September.

Possession of a Weapon

27 year-old Ryan Point of 800 Great Northern Road was arrested at 11:30 am on the 13th August at the Court House on Queen Street East and charged with one count of possession of a weapon dangerous to public. It is alleged that while in custody the accused got into an argument with another prisoner, produced a sock that had two cups inside and swung it at the prisoner. There were no injuries reported. The accused is to appear in court on this charge on the 17th of September.

Fail to Appear

1) 21 year-old Jesse Fantham of #2-146 Pim Street was arrested at the Court House yesterday around 12:00 pm on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to appear court from the 2nd of August. He is to appear in court on this charged on the 17th of September.

2) 19 year-old Ronald Dowding Jr. was arrested at the Court House yesterday at 3:15 pm on an outstanding warrant and charged with one count of fail to appear for fingerprints on the 30th of July. He is to appear in court on this charge on the 17th of September.

Two male youths were arrested overnight regarding a stolen vehicle and a short police pursuit.

18 year-old Allen Massicotte of 32 Bloucher Street was arrested around 3:10 am at his residence and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of fleeing from police.
18 year-old Ron Hynds also of 32 Bloucher Street has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
It is alleged that just after 11:30 pm on the 13th of August the two stole a 1980 Datsun from a driveway on Sydenham Road and were observed shortly after by patrol officers driving the vehicle southbound on People’s Road near Second Line East. City Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver, the accused Allen Massicotte would not stop. The vehicle accelerated eastbound on Second Line East but lost control a short distance away when attempting to turn onto Carmen’s Way. There were no injuries reported and there was no damage to the vehicle. The driver fled on foot and the passenger, Ron Hynds was arrested at the vehicle. The accused Allen Massicotte was located at his residence a few hours later.
The two are to appear in court on the 17th of September.

The following break and enters were reported yesterday and overnight:

1) A residence on Pim Street was entered sometime after 4 pm and 2:20 pm on the 13th of August. Two digital cameras, an I-Pod, some cash and a car stereo were reported stolen.

2) A residence in the 200 block of McNabb Street was entered between 1 pm and 1:15 pm on the 13th of August. Nothing was reported stolen.

3) A residence on Brown Street was entered between 8 am and 5:40 pm on the 13th of August. Liquor, clothing and a digital camera were reported stolen.

4) A residence on Goulais Avenue was entered sometime between 3:30 pm on the 10th of August and 8 pm on the 13th of August. An empty safe was reported stolen.

5) A residence on Wilding Avenue was entered on the 13th of August sometime between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm. A plasma television was reported stolen.

6) There was an attempt break and enter reported to a residence on Herrick Street.

7) An alarm was activated at 2:30 this morning at St. Basil Secondary School on St. Georges Avenue East. Officers that attended did discover a broken window. It is does not appear entry was gained or anything was stolen at this time.
