Three Persons have been Arrested, Charged and Remanded into Custody for Bail Court Appearance on Wednesday the 7th of April

1) 28 year-old Wesley Hallam of 63 Foothill Road has been charged with one count of Attempt Murder, one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance and one count of Breach of Probation. The accused is prohibited from possessing ammunition.
2) 25 year-old Eric Mearow of #1-715 Douglas Street has been charged with one count of Attempt Murder, one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance and one count of Breach of Probation. The accused is prohibited from possessing ammunition.
3) 22 year-old Wendy Ingram of #1-715 Douglas Street has been charged with one count of Attempt Murder and one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance.

Male Arrested for Theft and Food Fraud at From Local Restaurant

45 year-old Andrew Swan of no fixed address was arrested on the 3rd of April on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of fraudulently obtain food and one count of possession of stolen property. It is alleged that on the 3rd of May around 3:30 pm the accused attended a local restaurant and stole some money and a Blackberry cell phone from a waitress’s apron that had been left unattended for a few moments on a counter area. The accused also left the restaurant without paying his bill. He was quickly located by police in the area and was found in possession of the stolen items and arrested.

Male Arrested for Attempt Break and Enter at LCBO and Theft from Mac’s Convenience Store

38 year-old Clinton Perrault of 11 Euclid Road was arrested on the 4th of April at 12:32 am on Andrew Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00, one count of attempt break and enter and three counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 3rd of April around 9:20 pm the accused attempted to break into the LCBO Store in the Station Mall, but fled when the alarm was activated and Mall Security attended on scene. The accused was captured on Mall video surveillance. Further, it is alleged that on the 4th of April around 12:27 am the accused, while in an intoxicated state, attended at the Mac’s Convenience store on Gore Street and stole some items. He was quickly located in thee area by police and arrested. At the time of the offences, the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, not to attend any LCBO store or at the Mac’s Convenience Store.

Male Arrested for Vehicle Thefts

20 year-old Aaron Wissell of #106-125 Cambridge Place was arrested on the 4th of April at 5 am on Wellington Street East and charged with one count of theft over $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 4th of April the accused was at an east end house party, took a set of keys from the residence and stole a 2005 Chev Uplander from the driveway. The accused was also arrested on outstanding warrants in relation to two other similar stolen vehicle incidents from February.

Three Domestic Related Arrests

A 45 year-old male was arrested on the 3rd of April at 9:21 pm at his residence a charged with one count of assault, one count of assault with a weapon and two count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 5th of May the accused got into a verbal argument with his common law spouse at their residence and assaulted her by kicking her and striking her with a stick. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result.

A 33 year-old female was arrested on the 2nd of April at 2:24 pm and charged with one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the 2nd of April around 11:37 the accused, while in an intoxicated state at her residence, got into a dispute with her common law partner struck him with a glass, causing minor injuries to him.

A 36 year-old male was arrested on the 4th of April at 3:08 am and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 4th of April at approximately 2 am the accused got into a verbal argument with his girlfriend at her residence and assaulted her. The victim received non-life threatening injures as a result.

Impaired Driver Arrested

56 year-old Gordon Nott of 250 Church Street in Echo Bay, was arrested on the 2nd of April at 12:37 am on Strand Avenue and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and two counts of breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 2nd of April at approximately 12:35 am city police received a call from a witness regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Grand Boulevard. When officers arrived they observed the suspect vehicle travelling at a very low rate of speed in the centre of the roadway. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Further, the accused was on court conditions not to consume any alcohol and to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. He is to appear in Bail court this morning.

Drug Related Arrests

On the 1st of April at approximately 7:10 pm, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team, Emergency Services Unit and with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at 407 Charles Street, the residence of 39 year-old Wanda Roy and 53 year-old Glen Stevens. During the course of the search, officers located 115 grams of cannabis resin and 43.3 grams of cannabis marihuana. Officers further located several types of packaging materials for both drugs. As a result, both Roy and Stevens were charged with two counts each of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and one count each of possession of a controlled substance. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $3,350.00. They are to appear in court on the 3rd of May.

Male Arrested after Breaking into Vehicles in the Market Mall Parking Lot

21 year-old Troy Bozowskyi of 814 Wellington Street East was arrested on the 5th of April at 7:10 pm on Second Line West and charged with one count of mischief, one count of theft under $5, 000.00 and one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on the 5th of April at 7:10 pm city police received a call regarding two suspicious males attempting to enter vehicles in the parking lot of the Market Mall. When police arrived, they found that one of the suspects that had broke into a vehicle, was being held by a citizen and a Mall employee. Officers further discovered that the accused attempted to stab the citizen with a screw driver in attempts to get away. He is to appear in court on the 10th of May.
